An exotic bird
Who wishes to fly
Trapped in a cage and doesn’t know why.
A desperate soul
Yearning to roam
And discover the world he thought he’d known.
A delicate flower
Rooted to the ground
Forever silent, forever bound.
An entrapped princess
Who desires to learn
To glimpse at the fronds of a Tassel Fern.
The King Of The Jungle
Forced to contain his roar
Never hearing it echo off the forbidden shores.
A lost reader
Hiding from the world
Quietly watching the pages unfurl.
A beautiful dreamer
Caught in the midst
Of terrors and chaos that all coexist.
So here I lay
Wishing to be free,
but they’ve locked me up and thrown the key.
And yet I stay awake in my empty dreams
Desperately yearning to spread my wings,
A redeeming thought comforts me,
somebody’s coming to set me free.
