The next day raised fast like the sun in summer, and Sherlock had been downstairs, pacing. He stopped when there had been a knock at the door, he caught himself fixing his hair as he walked to the door. A chill went down his back, he knew he had to get this over with before Simza had returned home with Hamish. Reaching for the golden door handle, his hand shook and became sweaty. Sherlock took a deep breath in and exhaled out as he opened the door. Irene was there, smirking. She walked inside with her head up high and glancing back at Sherlock.  Taking her seat on the couch, Sherlock walked to her then sat beside her. There was a moment of silence between the two before he took her hand.

"Irene, you must understand that I am with Simza now. Married. I love her with every morsel in my body and I don't want to hurt her." He explained to her. She hadn’t seemed to care if he was married or not, she wants Holmes. She wanted him to love her like he did before.

“Do you love me? Answer that.” She asked.

"I love you as a friend, my dear.” He responded. The pain in Irene’s eyes seemed to grow each time the word friend was repeated in her head. Her gazed traveled the floor letting out a mournful sigh.

“I want us, you cannot desert me.”

“You did so to me. And I moved on with my life.”

“Remember when we kissed?” She questioned. A small smile came to her face as she leaned back on the couch. Oh yes, this was just one of her ways to pull him in.  A smile came to her making her dark red lips glow, she scooted closer to him and rested a hand on his lap.

“I know you miss the days when we were a thing. I miss it as much as you think of it. Don’t you feel the same way when you kiss Simza? Do you feel the magic?” She questioned him. Sherlock looked away avoiding where here hand had been placed. A long painful sigh came from him, he glanced up to her with a look in his eyes. A look Irene had wanted since yesterday.

“I feel it, I have missed you dearly. But I refuse to leave me wife.” He replied in a low tone. Irene chuckled at his statement when she heard a key jiggling the lock to the front door.

"Holmes, one last time. Feel that spark light up our worlds.” She whispered leaning in for a kiss just as Simza made her way into the house. She glanced up from the stroller and nearly dropped the groceries.

“What are you doing!?” Simza screamed at the top of her lungs. Sherlock jumped up pushing Irene back, which made her fall to the floor. His eyes were wide when he finally noticed what was happening.

“Sim… N-No, it’s not what it looks like!” He said walking to her with his hands up. Irene stood up quickly from the floor then crossed her arms.

“It’s exactly what it looks like.” She laughed cocking her head to the side. Hamish watched them all, not liking the yelling.

“Get out! Just get out!” Simza started to cry taking Hamish out from his stroller and heading upstairs. Irene laughed at her tears walking to the door. She kissed Sherlock on the cheek and danced her way out the house. Sherlock stood there, hanging his head in shame. He had once thought that giving up the life of danger would keep him from his past. Well it didn’t. His head spun in a circle and he couldn’t for the life of him, stand any longer. He plopped on the ground and stayed there for a moment.  Simza’s face was as red as fire, her eyes rained in pain, her heart was beating like a drum, and she thorn through ever dresser and closet. She was determined to find those letters. Stopping to think to herself. Where would he put something he wouldn’t want me to see…? The study! Her attention quickly drew to the study across the hall. Wiping her tears away, she went into the study and searched it. She checked the bookshelf, under the pots and plants, inside them as well. She let out a sigh then noticed she hadn’t checked the desk. She took a deep breath, sat in his soft black chair, and opened the drawer. There she found many letters and other papers from old cases. Simza reached in and grabbed the first letter, inhaled then exhaled. She held back her tears that formed in her eyes as she read. That entire night, she read them all, each one breaking her heart even more.
