The only sound you can hear around the training grounds was men cheering, marching, etc. Only a deaf person would enjoy the quiet as the sounds were annoying to hear. I sighed and tied my combat boots, "Well I did ask for this, armies don't train quietly"

When I got off the frozen bench and walked casually over to the main building, I was greeted by the one and only: Sonic. "Hey, (n/n)!" He said and put his arm around my waist as we continues to walk to the main building. "Hey, Son-Son!" I giggled at his face since it was slightly pink when I called him by his new nickname.

"You're so adorable when you're like this" I cooed and poked his nose to make him chuckle at me. "Same to you, (n/n), you're still pink!" Sonic smiled and made me realize I was blushing as well. "T-thats just the cold...." I lied so I wasn't embarrassed but Sonic just laughed.

"Don't lie, (n/n), embrace the embarrassment!" Sonic joked and I laughed with him. I placed my head on his shoulder and sighed, Sonic looked at me and raised an eyebrow. "Hey, what's wrong?" He asked and I shook my head. "It's nothing, I just...." I began, "I just wish this could last forever"

Sonic smiled and kissed the top of my head, "It will, it will always last forever right in here. You just gotta keep an eye on it if you don't want to lose it"

"Are you saying my memories are like looking after dogs?" I smirked and we both laughed. "Maybe~" Sonic said, putting more emphasis on the word to make him sound silly.
I laughed once again and we finally reached the building.

It wasn't nice looking on the outside since the villagers said it was an abandoned steel plant, but it was good enough for us to use as our base. We walked in and were hit by the heat of the radiators of the room. "Ah, feels great to have the sense to feel again" I sighed and removed my winter jacket, gloves, hat and scarf. I left them hanging up on the coat hanger while Sonic did the same.

"So" Sonic clapped his hands together and turned around to Tails who was at the military computer that tracks down nearby forces, "Find anything yet?"

Tails shook his head and continued to type quickly on the keyboard. "Sadly not, the only forces I have tracked down was a group of deers or birds" he replied, sounding disheartened. I placed a reassure pat on Tails' head, "Don't worry about it, take your time, okay?"

The fox nodded with a smile and continued to type while not taking his eyes off the screen. I walked over to Knuckles who was just sipping coffee. "Oi, no slacking off the job!" I teased and Knuckles almost spat his coffee out. "Sorry, but I'm on break at the moment" he pointed out and I nodded. "For how long?" I asked and Knuckles replied with "I've just got settled now"

"Alright, how's the soldiers doing?" I asked and Knuckles gave a "Hmm"

"They're getting better but the amount of people I had to send home because they failed is unbelievable" Knuckles sighed and I raised my eyebrows while grabbing a mug to get a cup of coffee as well. "How many did we lose?" I questioned and the edcidna thought for a bit. "I think around 35?" I dropped my cup and it turned into broken shards of what used to be a mug.

"What?!" I said in disbelief, "You mean to tell me that we now only have 65 soldiers?!"
"What's going on here? Did someone die?" Silver ran into the room and looked at us both. He noticed the broken mug and sighed, "Ah no! That was my favorite mug!"

"Sorry, Silver" I apologized sheepishly, "I'll get you a new one someday"
Knuckles just took another sip of his drink and continued talking like nothing happened, "Yes, we only have 65 soldiers now, but Luna has contacted that she can send Devilhogs and herself over here to join forces. She just needs your approval".

I sighed in relief, "Thank god for Luna! Give her my response that I accept and appreciate it greatly". Knuckles nodded and left the room to deliver the note. Silver grabbed the broken shards of the mug and tried to use his telekinesis to fix it and return to normal.

"I guess I'll leave you to it" I said and left the room to see how Amy and Rouge were.

I didn't realize that someday I will be broken again
