ABSTRACT

Artists are paid thousands of dollars to create work that doesn't look like anything, but to someone, is everything. Until that someone comes along, the piece has no meaning. It sits in a corner, not knowing its purpose. Everyone glances over it because they don't have the right eyes to see it. They're eyes are plain and boring, only recognizing what's easy to see. But then that someone the piece has been waiting for, made for, arrives. Those eyes see passion, pain, love, and so many emotions on a canvas full of random shapes! For hours, the eyes stare at the masterpiece, mesmerized by the beauty and meaning. These eyes are like no other. No, these eyes are shiny, reflecting the colors back to the painting. The art that once felt its shapes being unnecessary feel them come to life and dance with the sparks filling those eyes! Oh, those eyes! Words can't describe what those eyes were making the painting feel! But as soon as it began, everything ended. A dull pair of eyes came and rested next to the bright ones. They stared for a minute, but a confusing look swept over them. The dull eyes looked over to the bright ones, making the bright eyes break the stare to look back. They exchanged a few looks, and the dull ones disappeared. The all-seeing eyes looked back at the art once more, lingering for a minute, but then turned away again and followed behind the dull ones. For a while, the artwork waits, knowing the eyes will come back. They have to come back! But after what seems like an eternity, its hope fades. Along with its colors, shapes, and meaning. Day after day, dull eyes pass over the art, and it's not surprised when another pair covers it with a white sheet. The artwork knows those Abstract Eyes will never linger again, and why would they? It's just another piece of artwork with yellowing edges that's fallen apart.
