Shadows

Shadows consume me, vast throughout the night.

The feed on fear and sadness, in a world full of fright.

The shadows all around me, they push and push for more,

Making my life a nightmare, filled with endless gore.

Can't you hear them feasting? Oh, it's such a sound.

Aside from my heart beating, the cycle goes round and round.

Can't you see I'm dying? Well of course, it's clearly plain.

Though your eyes, they shine so brightly,

With nothing less to gain.

Why won't anyone help me? The question's left to ponder.

As I lay, heart empty, cloudy eyes shut and somber.

My mind is left in pieces, from the shadows of the night.

As my heart is left unbeating, solid and free of fright.

My suffering is normal; it's the truth that is insane.

Your perfect, vast reflection, is what keeps me from my pain.

Something so fragile, shattered without a doubt.

It's barely worthwhile, to see your hidden pout.

Just know that I hear you, underneath your muffled cries.

And I will always protect you, from the broken, shadowy lies.

For friendship is brought, and the past is only the past.

We will never be again, as our bond is lost and vast.

But as I shelter you, from the shadows that only gain,

I will surely protect you, reflecting myself to your pain.

It absorbs me throughly, discarding me with the night,

But at least you are safe now,

So fragile,

So light.

Things I like about this poem: The story line, if anything..?
Things I hate about this poem: Okay, here starts the list. 1- How many times did I write 'night' and 'shadows'?? 2- Too many big words.. 3- complicated mess of writing. 4- Everything, maybe?)
