Mattress

Kylo watched as Amethyst decided to start sleeping on the couch. The twins were by her side.

When she grabbed her pillow and walked out of the room, Kylo was worried.

"Is it something I said? Or?" Kylo asked following her. Amethyst rearranged the couch pillows, aka throwing them on a nearby chair.

"Kylo you're fine. My back hurts, I'm tired, that mattress is awful" Amethyst adjusted her pillow and laid down. "I'm don't begging your mom for a new one." Kylo could hear her back popping in about 20 different places.

"That isn't normal" He commented.

"Neither is that mattress." She stretched out her legs and arms. More popping. He cringed at the sound. A sigh of relief escaped her lips.

"Ok baby. Night" he leaned down kissed her and went to their room. Instead of going to sleep he got out his laptop and started searching for new mattresses. He did not like having to sleep alone, he was used to Amethyst's constant warmth by his side.

Too hard, too soft, too small, too big. He sighed and leaned his head back. A knock at the door made him jump a little. 3 am. "What?" He asked.

Rey opened the door, leaning in a little bit. "Why is Am on the couch."

"She hates this mattress."

"I see." Rey saw the police uniform on a chair. "Is that what you waste your money on?"

"Don't question my expenses." He glared.

"There's like five of them." She walked in and started picking them up. "Why?"

"Amethyst keeps ripping them, as she tears them off."

"Why is she tearing them off?"

"Because she likes a man in uniform"

"Then why doesn't she just take them off, and not rip them?"

"Don't ask questions you don't want answers too"

"Fair enough." Rey went to the door, she paused for a moment, turning back to look at Kylo "but you're a teacher"

"Shut up Rey." He looked away from his cousin and kept searching for a new mattress.

Rey closed the door.

Kylo found one and placed the order. 'Now we wait' he thought.

A few days later, Kylo got the confirmation that the mattress was going to arrive that day. He wanted it to be a surprise for Amethyst.

"Babe. I want you to go to town." Kylo walked into the bedroom. Amethyst was sitting in a chair, typing on her laptop.

"Why?" She looked up.

"Just go. I don't know. Get your nails done, or haircut, something"

"You're being weird. Since when did I get my nails done"

"Ummm. Today? Take Rey with you." He tossed his keys at her. She caught them.

"Kylo. I don't-"

"Trust me. Just go out. Have fun. I'll watch the twins."

"Ugh. Fine" she closed the laptop and got her shoes on. She walked out of the room and went to look for Rey.

When he made sure they were gone he quickly stripped the bed and and moved things out of the way.

"Shhh. Don't tell mommy but we are getting her a new bed" He whispered to the twins. Anakin just laughed, and Sapphire was passed out. He smiled and picked up his son.

"Do you think mommy is going to come back and sleep with us?" Anakin babbled, and flailed his arms. "True true." Kylo nodded. He appreciated his son's constant effort at trying to speak.

There was a knock on the door. Putting Anakin down and moving the twins out of the room, he answered the front door.

"Mattress?"

"Yeah." Kylo let them in. He showed them where the bedroom was. The men carried the new piece of furniture in and carried the old one out. "Thanks"

"No problem." They replied and left. Kylo locked the front door and hurried back upstairs. Remaking the bed and moving all of the other crap back, and cleaned up the room some more, he waited for Amethyst to come home.

After an hour she came back with Rey. They were eating ice cream. "I don't know what you're saying. Loki is obviously the better villain." Rey said. He could hear their voices from the room.

"Maybe, but Ronan the accuser was so much hotter." Amethyst locked the doors they entered through. "Babe we're home" Amethyst stated, she went up the stairs and into their room. Giving Kylo his keys back.

"Great. Did you have fun?" He pulled her close and licked her ice cream. Chocolate.

"Yeah. Thanks" she smiled and continued to eat her ice cream. She looked around the room. "You cleaned?"

"It was getting messy"

"Oh yeah. So messy, a shoe on the floor. Gasp, a book on the bed. Oh no" she mocked him.

"I have a surprise for you" Kylo laughed.

"Hmmm?" She shoved the cone in her mouth.

"You have to sit on the bed though" he lead her back and pushed her down.

"Fine" she rolled her eyes. "I hate this thing you know" Something was different. Bouncing up and down a little. Smiling, She laid back. "You got a new mattress?"

"Yeah. This way you can come back... You know. Sleep with me, in the bed. Like at night. When tired."

"Yeah." She mumbled. She was in complete bliss. She closed her eyes and smiled. Then her breathing calmed.

"Babe?" Kylo asked, he tapped her leg. She fell asleep, rolling his eyes he took off her shoes and jacket and put her whole body on the bed. Putting a blanket on her, sitting down in the chair he started to grade some tests.

This was the first night she got a full night's sleep. Besides when she slept in reys bed.

Rey walked in and saw she was sleeping. "New mattress?"

"Yup." Kylo said. They were both watching her. "We both know Leia wasn't going to buy a new mattress."

"She would if you asked"

"No. She questions why I buy the things I do. Like you"

"To be fair that was a lot of police uniforms for a teacher"

"Shut up Rey." He rolled his eyes.
