I hug Aunt and Uncle, giving them a bunch of fresh flowers, "Happy anniversary!" They both smile at me, taking the flowers and setting them down before squeezing me in a big group hug.
At around two pm, Jay comes to the house. Aunt and Uncle are ready to go. Aunt wraps me up in her arms, "Thank you, darling. I've had a divine morning. You have made this anniversary a very memorable one and I will never forget it."
"You're welcome. Now, get going, you don't want to be late!" I say, my cheeks flaring up red. The door busts open and Shaun walks in.
"Happy anniversary!" He gives Aunt some flowers and kisses her cheek. Then he shakes Uncle's hand. Jay stand beside me, looking more than a little awkward. Aunt and Uncle leave, mumbling to each other and Shaun turns to me, "Did you change your bandage?"
"Yep. I did it this morning, as I was told to. Thanks for caring." I say, tucking a stray strand of hair behind my ear. Jay nods and then a muffled ringing reverbrates around the room. Shaun sticks his hand into his pocket and takes out a slim cell, pressing a button and holding it to his ear, "Hello? I'm up at Delilah and Harry's house. Yeah. Oh, I forgot. No, I'm coming. It's okay, I'm on my way. Bye. That was my sister. I have to go."
I nod silently, watching as he leaves the house. Jay sighs and runs a hand through his hair. Then he takes a roll of paper out from his pocket, "You want to get this thing done?"
An hour later, we've switched the main room's light off, surrounded the room with votive candles and got a safe fire going with metal sheeting underneath to catch any ash. I have bowls of chopped up sage, 'natural' soil and holy water in front of me. I look down at the papers.
I close my eyes, sighing. This is it. The moment I have been waiting for. My heart thuds erratically, almost making me hyperventilate. Jay sits down opposite me, nodding encouragingly and patting my hand once. I take a deep breath, deciding to get it over with. I pick up a handful of natural soil, throwing it into the fire. The fire flares up and I speak in a confident, cool voice, "Lost Soul, lacita vierto! Lost Soul, lacita vierto! Lost Soul, lacita vierto!"
There's a huge gust of wind that nearly bowls me over. My hair flaps in front of my face and then I see that writhing, distorted area of air. "He's here." I breathe, already trembling. Jay looks around, puzzled, disoriented.
"Where?" He asks.
"There." I point to the distortion in the air. Jay's eyes go wide and he gasps. Then Trevor appears. He has his death face on, the one with the scars and pupil-less eyes that makes my heart lurch every time I se it. He looks at me, at the candles surrounding Trevor and I and steps forward. Then he yelps and steps back.
I look at Jay, who grins. Jay explains, "The circle of candles. This is like a shield. He can't touch us as long as we're in it!"
I smile triumphantly and then clear my throat, "You ready?" Jay nods.
Trevor screeches, "NO! No, you stupid girl! Don't do it!"
Ignoring him, Jay and I link hands and then repeat, "Lacita vierto, lacita vierto, lacita vierto, Lost Soul, lacita vierto, lacita vierto, lacita vierto, Lost Soul!!"
Trevor screeches and then coughs, his whole body shaking with the force of it, "Stop now!" He attempts to touch us again but is flung back by the protective shield. The front door opens and then Shaun walks, in, looking dejected. "Look, I'm-What are you two doing?"
"Shaun!" I look, panicked, from him to Trevor. Trevor grins maliciously. "Shaun, get inside the circle now!" I beckon him. Shaun looks at me, confused. ""Now!! Shaun, please!!"
Trevor begins to edge towards him.
Shaun smiles at me, "First tell me you forgive me. I haven't been acting like I should have these past few days." No, this isn't what was supposed to happen! Why did Shaun have to come here? Now he's in danger. I have to do something. Trevor can hurt me, but he can't touch my friends!! I cry out loud, "Shaun! Please get into the circle now!"
"I can't hear the word forgiven. Tell me, tell me, tell me quick!"
I let out a sob, "Shaun, get into the circle of candles!" Trevor is almost upon him, still grinning maniacally. "Forgiven!" I blurt. Shaun beams with delight and steps forward ---
--- right into Trevor's arms. Trevor begins constricting him and Shaun's face begins to pale as he gasps for breath. "NO!" I scream, my heart jumping into my mouth instantaneously. I lurch to my feet, stepping out of the protective shield of candles and launch myself at Trevor. I jump on his back, winding my legs around his waist and grabbing hold of his hair, pulling as hard as I can. Trevor yells and lets go of Shaun. He flexes his arms and I'm thrown back against the wall with a jarring impact but I'm back on my feet again immediately, feeling the wound on my forehead open up and begin dribbling blood down my face.
Shaun crawls into the circle and Jay helps him up, scanning him over for any injuries. I look at Trevor, my heart thrashing around like a caged animal. Trevor launches himself at me and begins to claw at me. I scream as he draws blood and then push him off me with all the strength I can muster, what with being both tearful and bloody.Trevor narrows his pupil-less eyes at me, seeing but at the same time, not seeing. I wipe blood from my face, stopping it getting into my eyes and bend into a defensive crouch, going for the deadly blow, aiming for the one place that shouldn't be hurt under any circumstances. Trevor groans and doubles over in pain. I can just imagine how much agony I have inflicted to his groin.
When he looks at me next, his eyes are blazing. I back away for the safety of the protective shield, but it's too late. I am lifted up in the air, my legs thrashing, and am whacked into the wall. It feels as if my skull has shifted in my head and blood leaks out with more speed, the bandage no help at all. I groan and cough, sputtering out blood.
Trevor bends down in front of me and then squeezes my face between his fingers.
His other hand is upon my throat and he is squeezing. I thrash as I can't get any air in. I hit at his hands, raking my nails into his sandpapery skin. Dots appear in my vision and the fight begins to drain out of me with my life. He's winning, Trevor's winning. I'm sorry, Mom, I could win Trevor. But I'm coming to you. I'm coming. The last thing I hear before everything goes black is Jay and Shaun both desperately chanting, "Lacita vierto como kamat jierkito! Lacita vierto como kamat jierkito..."
One Chapter Left!!!! I know this is very short but it's my first try on Wattpad and I honestly don't have any more ideas. Thanks for all your support!
