Chapter Two

"Castiel! Castiel!"
Eric searched frantically for the lost voice, though all he could see was blue. He swam everywhere, but to no avail.
"Castiel! Castiel!"
Finally, he looked below him and almost cried out in horror; a young girl was frantically trying to reach him, but her legs seemed to be useless to her. Her brown hair floated around her, covering her face as she sunk farther down. She kept calling to him, but he didn't understand what Castiel meant.
"Save me!"
Eric reached out to grasp her outstretched hand, but stopped short when he saw him own hand. Webs were weaved between each of his pale, spindly fingers; small fins had sprouted on the sides of his arms and tiny, pale blue scales encircled them. When he had regained his senses the girl was gone, he could no longer hear her cries for help or see her slim figure slip down into the gloom. He widened his eyes to test and see if he could see further into the blue water. When no success came to him he felt his eyes water, despite the fact that he was underwater, and felt his eyes slowly become red. When he thought all was lost he felt a faint vibration through the water, almost like a heartbeat.
'Heart beat!' Like a flash of lightning he sped downwards towards the bottom of the ocean. After only several seconds he saw the girl, sprawled out on the blue ocean floor as if she were asleep. With gentle arms he scooped up, causing the sand to stir and shimmer in dim ocean light, and pressed her cold body against his bare chest.
"You're safe now, no one will find you." he whispered lightly when he noticed the cruel marks across her body. Suddenly, the girl's eyes fluttered open and a look of sorrow and something that Eric could not distinguish crossed her face.
"Castiel, you are the Prince Under the Ocean, the king is dead which makes you the rightful ruler." she spoke in a voice like that of gentle waves lapping at the shore.
"I, I don't understand, who is Castiel?" Eric asked in confusion. Without warning an ear splitting noise sounded from above, causing Eric to cringe and clench his teeth together.
"The storm is coming, Castiel, whether you're ready for it or not." And with that she gently touched the side of his head with her fingers and the noise ended.
*~*~*
Eric bolted up right in his bed, his breathing came out quickly and sweat dripped down his face as he recovered from his dream. His eyes darted furiously around his dark room as he made sure that he was in the present and safe in his own bed. When he had settled down he moaned and covered his face with his clammy hands. Slowly, his breathing returned to normal and the sweat stopped pouring from his forehead.
"That, that was some dream." he mumbled to himself as he let his hands drop in his lap. As he stared blankly in front of him he saw his ukulele sitting on his oak dresser. As if he were being drawn to it, Eric pushed aside the covers, swung his legs over the side of his bed and walked over to the small guitar. When the small wooden instrument was in his hands he walked back over to his bed and let his hands play on their own,
