THE FIRST TASK
Vanessa headed up the stands, anxious to see her two fellow Hogwarts students compete. She had wished Harry luck earlier today and staring at Cedric basically gave him luck, too. Although, it was quite obvious he was interested in Cho Chang. Vanessa fixed her beanie so it wasn't covering her eyes. She walked up briskly, so the students behind her didn't huff and puff about her. The stands were almost filled, as she glanced around for a place to stand.
"Vanessa!" Fred and George called. She quickly scanned the crowd in the direction of the voices. Fred and George stood there, waving her over. She scurried over to them. Her giant excitement became an intense feeling of nervousness. She kept herself from hyperventilating. She walked over, counting to ten over and over again as she approached the two mischief makers.
"Hello," she croaked out. Fred and George both noticed her discomfort. Their gleeful faces turned into one of concern.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Fred asked, placing a hand on her shoulder. Vanessa shrugged.
"I don't know," she covered her face. "I was just joking earlier, but I've know Cedric since I was little, and they're facing dragons. Dragons are so dangerous, and I don't want anything to happen to him." Fred and George bit back a scowl.
"It's okay," Fred ran his thumb side to side on her shoulder. He sent her a small smile along with it.
"Cedric is really smart, too. He can do it okay," George smiled.
"No matter how much I dislike him," Fred finished, causing a giggled to escape Vanessa's lips. She let out one more breath before wrapping them both into warm hugs.
"Okay, I'm ready," Vanessa grinned. "Now, tell me. What is that box for?" She furrowed her eyebrows and tilted her head. She could tell they were betting, but she wanted to hear it from them.
Fred and George gave each other side glances. "Gambling," they said, smirking in unison. Vanessa rolled her eyes before being crushed in a large hug.
"Ness!" the hugger shouted, squeezing Vanessa until she couldn't breathe. She watched as the twins faces changed from confusion into amusement as she tried to get out of the strong grip. The hugger let go, and Vanessa turned around to see her closest friend. Maya Andrews gave her a large smile. "I heard what happened, and I will destroy him." Vanessa smiled at Maya. Maya was honestly what people didn't stereotype Slytherins into. Sure, she was cunning and sly, but her heart was in the right place. Maya looked behind Vanessa to see the Weasley twins. The very good looking twins. She gave her friend a look before pulling her over to whisper in her ear," We need to talk later."
Vanessa pulled away, nodding hesitantly. "Okay," she dragged out slowly.
Maya smiled before holding her hand out to the twins. "I'm Maya." Her lip curled into a smirk as she looked at the twins. Fred and George returned that smirk, before shaking her hand one by one.
Vanessa rolled her eyes," Enough. I don't want to see where this will go." They all chuckled. " Besides, it's about to start." The dragon, which Vanessa quickly recognized as a Swedish Short-Snout. Vanessa let out an uneasy breath. "Okay. Okay. Okay," she mumbled to herself quickly. She grabbed the hand of the closest person to her. She knew it wasn't the worst dragon to fight, but none of them were good. The hand who she was squeezing tightly into pulled away, before fixing it so they could hold Vanessa's hand.
She turned to the person and saw Fred. He didn't notice her looking, so he didn't see the heat rise to her cheeks and turn them apple red. She turned to look back to look at Cedric, but she was mainly focused on Fred's finger intertwined in mine.
