"Hurry up!" Jade shouts from outside.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," I say as I come down the stairs from our apartment.
Jade starts the car and drives off. We are going to a party. It's the first college party we've been to. I'm actually sort of nervous, I don't know about her. The party is going to be hosted at a senior's house. He's supposed to be mega rich, Jade told me he was Logan's best friend. Jade is my best friend. We met towards the end of our senior year in high school which was about 5 months ago. We met at college orientation. Jade's boyfriend is Logan. He is a senior at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. They've been together for about nine months. He is a mega jock. He plays football, basketball, and soccer. I heard he's really good at baseball too, he just doesn't like it. He's tall and has short blonde hair. Jade describes him like he's this perfect supermodel, but honestly, I've seen guys that are way more attractive.
We stop at the gas station right as the gauge dropped to empty. We got lucky that time. I keep telling Jade to fill her car up when it gets down to one-fourth left, but she never listens. She hops out of the car and fills up the tank. I look at how much it costs, deciding if i should pay for some. The total ends up being 30 dollars. I open my wallet and dig out a 10 dollar bill. When she gets back in the car, I hand it to her. She takes it and shoves it in her pocket.
"Thanks," Jade says.
"Welcome," I answer.
Jade is gorgeous. She has this dark hair that compliments her face. Normally she wears it up in a bun. It's about shoulder length when she puts it down. She is pale during the winter but tan in the summer. Her eyes are a bold green. She wears little makeup, because her eyes compliment themselves. She has a slim, short nose with a small diamond piercing on the right. Her smile is absolutely astonishing. Her teeth are pearly white and in perfect form. No crooks, whatsoever. She has five piercings on her ear. Two at the bottom three on the top. Her ears are so small that she couldn't even fit another piercing. Her head is small and circular. She is very slim, just like me. We're practically the same exact size, so we share lots of clothes and just wear whatever is clean and put away in the dresser or in the closet. Sometimes, when we're really lazy, we just keep them in a hamper until we wear them. It's a pretty good system.
She does workouts and juice cleanses with me all the time. We run at least 12 miles a week. We get along like peanut butter and jelly. We have the same style in clothing, we like the same foods, and we are both majoring in business finance. She's my best friend, and it'll be that way forever, I just know it. The only thing different about us, is that I tend to be more reserved. She's wild and creative and likes to be apart of anything and everything, while I pick and choose the things I want and I tend to be more serious. But, that's what makes us work. I tell her when shes being too crazy and she tells me when I need to have a bit more fun. And that's why I love our relationship.
"Uh, are you gonna stop?" I ask.
"Oh, crap," She realizes there's a stop sign 30 feet away, and slams on her brakes.
"Jeez, child," I blurt.
"Oops? I sowwy," She whimpers as if she's a small child. We both start to laugh at the silly mistake. "Hey, could you look up where we're going? I don't know the exact address, but it's in this area." She asks as I look on my phone for the address posted on the invite.
"212 Royal Street," I tell her.
"Hm, okay," She replies.
"Look! It's right there," I point at the cream colored house with four tall, white pillars starting from the cement porch all the way up to the roof of the house. The porch lights are on so I can see it pretty well. It has a red door with a half window at the top, guarded by a unique glass door on the outside. There are ten windows in the front, four for the first floor six for the second floor. The windows are bordered with navy shutters. The house includes a three car garage that is attached to the left side. The driveway is long and filled with cars.
As we pull to the side across the street from the mansion, Jade parks the car and we go inside the house. It's the most luxurious thing I've ever seen. There is a staircase a few feet in front of me. It's right in the center of the house. Up above you can see a cut out square with a majestic chandelier hanging down. To my left, from what I can see, there is a grand piano with a matching bench. Then through a large doorway, there is also a living room with a fireplace and a flatscreen up above. It has oriental rugs and modern couches. To the right from the front of the staircase, there is an archway which goes into the dining room. In the opposite corner of the dining room there is a swinging door that leads to the kitchen. We head into the kitchen and pour ourselves two glasses of Sierra Mist. Neither of us want to get wasted before we know how these parties work. We see some familiar faces as we are getting our drinks, so we smile and wave, but no one that we are more than acquaintances with.
We walk out through the sliding back door, which is in the back of the kitchen, to a giant yard. It's guarded by a white privacy fence. Inside the fence is a huge underground pool with a slide and a diving board. There is a patio for grill outs with a wooden picnic table and even a fire pit for a bonfire surrounded with benches and patio chairs. The grass is freshly cut. It's the same color of a blazing green, all throughout the yard. There is a giant, wooden dog house by the door, therefore I'm assuming they have a large dog. Maybe a Great Dane, Labrador, Golden Retriever, or even a Rottweiler. I prefer big dogs over little dogs, so I'm actually excited to meet this fellow. Also, in the yard, I see a small garden in the corner. It is surrounded by a short, black, wire fence. This place is my dream home.
Jade finds Logan near the fire pit. She walks over to him and hugs him from behind. He turns and kisses her.
"Beer breath bastard," She jokes.
"Nice one," He sarcastically slurs. Logan looks at me with his glossy, drunk eyes. "Hi, you're Paisley right?" I nod. "I'm Logan. I've heard a lot about you. It's nice to meet you," He greets me kindly.
"Yeah, you too," I quietly say. A muscular guy walks up to all of us. He does this special handshake with Logan then turns to Jade as he smiles and waves at her. She does the same right back at him.
"Hey Bradyn," Jade greets him.
"Sup guys," He says. His voice is bold and loud. He turns his head to me, smiles, and asks, "And who are you?"
"Hi, I'm Paisley. You must obviously be Bradyn," I respond.
"Well you're awfully smart," He cracks. We all giggle a little. I take a sip of my pop. My thoughts are very forward about Bradyn. He's cute and I think we'll get along really well. Potentially become more than just friends, I mean, I know we just met, but look at him. He's like prince charming. He's tall and handsome. He has brunette hair with gorgeous blue eyes. He's got a soft looking face with nose that's long and slim. His smile is big, white teeth that are perfectly straight and bright, soft lips. And most importantly, he's ripped. You can see his veins all throughout his arms, and when he took off his hoodie his abs were so defined that I knew if I punched them, my hand would've instantly shattered. How could any girl not want to be more than "friends" with him.
Jade knows I get extremely shy around cute guys, but she also knows that when I get to know them I'm bubbly and cute. I can tell by the look in her eye that she's going to set us up. She looks down at her phone and starts to type. Right as she locks it up and puts her phone away I feel mine vibrate in my pocket. I wait a minute or two, so it's not obvious the message was to me. After we talk about how me and Jade met and why we're best friends, I pull out my phone and check the message. Just as I'd guessed, it was from Jade.
"Girl, I can see it. You like him... a lot. Just remember... you owe me ;) ," she texted.
"Omg Jade, I love you. I swear I'll pay you back with something big," I reply.
And that's when I start to come out of my shell. All four of us talk for a bit about sports and how Bradyn plays football, basketball, and baseball. Then we talk about Logan, and how he got to be so good at sports. We continue on to talk about Jade and how she wants a tattoo, just like the one her mom has on her foot. It's an infinity sign with the words 'Mom' and 'Daughter' written into the symbol. I like it too, but my mom doesn't believe in tattoos.
