She woke up, knowing nothing. She was sure she remembered something, it was lingering in the air around her, then like a flash of lightning the words reached out of her mouth: "My name is Lauren!" she shouted, repeating it over and over again as she got up from the bed. The room was filled with summer air from an open window that looked out onto a beautiful valley. It was as if she had just been born, but how could she? It all felt very strange.
The machinery was making a low humming sound along with a few occasional beeps, Thousands of them held captive by it. A few people passing by would stop and admire it and think about how they would rather be in there than doing labour in the real world.
