Thomas woke up on a hard, cold concrete floor. 'Where am I?' He thought to himself. Pulling himself to his feet, he realized his hands were bound together. 'What the fuck?' Right after he took notice to this, he heard laughter. Not childish, or playful laughter, but insane laughter. It came from a door towards his right. He backed up to the wall farthest away from the door as it opened, revealing a surprisingly familiar woman.

"Who are you?" He finally asked, his voice sounding like he hadn't used it in days. A mock look of hurt crossed the woman's features

"Aww.. You don't remember me?" She pouted "what a shame" she clicked her tongue and sat in a recliner, the only piece of furniture in the room.

Thomas scanned his surroundings and found that he was in a basement.

'She looks so familiar' he thought to himself 'I have to know her from somewhere' he began to retrace the details from the night before

FLASHBACK: Thomas had been walking with a girl named clarrissa the night before. After he ditched his girlfriend, Sam, he met up with clarrissa at the mall.

They agreed that they would stop by Starbucks, and then stop by his place for a little fun. They arrived at the foodcourt and his heart rate tripled:Sam was working part time at Starbucks in the mall. Today was her shift. Thomas quickly grabbed clarrissas hand as soon as Sam noticed they were there, and dragged clarrissa outside the mall.

END FLASHBACK

realization hit Thomas like a 50 pound weight: it was his girlfriend, Sam.

"Remember that day at Starbucks?" Sam asked. "I caught you cheating" she did some type of laugh mixed with breathing in, like she was trying to catch her breath while laughing. "After I saw you with my best friend, or former best friend now, I went mad!" She giggled, then left.

A minute went by and she reappeard, holding a knife

"Gimme your hand" she said, holding out her hand. When I mad no move to do what she said, she grabbed my hand and brought the knife to it.

Knife touched skin and Thomas drew his hand back, only to receive a painful jab to the stomach with Sams elbow.

Winded from the blow, he sunk to the floor and Sam had full power over him and grabbed his arm back. She brought the knife back to his skin and started carving letters onto his arm.

'I'

Thomas yelled in pain

'T'

"This will be a reminder"

'S'

"To you"

'O'

"So if you ever"

'V'

"Try and cheat on your girlfriend"

'E'

"Again,"

'R'

"You'll be reminded of this day and what I did to you" she inhaled deeply "damn!" She dropped my arm and sat back in her chair "I love the smell of your blood!!

Months passed and Thomas wasn't treated any better: Sam would occasionally retrace his scars with a knife, and would barely feed him.

Finally, Sam came into the basement holding a phone one day. She dialed three numbers into it, and held the phone to her ear "hello?" A pause

"I'm about to kill someone" surprise sprouted through Thomas. "Ok. I can wait" Sam smiled and hung up, dropping the phone to the floor and shattering it into a million pieces, making Sam jump and drop the knife as well, right into Thomas's stomach.

"Oh god!" Sam shreiked, the slighted amount of humanity in her voice. Her eyes went wide as she removed the knife and threw it to the side "Thomas, I-I'm sorry..." She stuttered "I wasn't really gonna kill you!" She sobbed as Thomas lay there, in a pool of blood on the brink of death. Devastated, Sam grabbed the knife and brought it to her chest, not having the courage to break skin, she purposly fell forward, pushing the knife through her heart, resulting in an instant death.

The police arrived 15 minutes later, with paramedics and found Sam and Thomas lying on he floor in the basement. They were able to save Thomas's life, but Sam was gone forever, lost in hell and tormented by her mistake in almost killing her ex. Thomas moved on easily, except he never had the courage to even look at another woman while he was dating because of the mistake with Sam.
