As we walked in to Little Italy, a waitress approached us. "You can seat yourselves, I'll be with you in a moment." She said, giving someone else a quick nod.
We chose a seat that over looked the city. Instead of me looking out across the city, I looked at El.
He glanced at me. "What is it? Do I have something on my face?" He asked nervously, while wiping his face.
I chuckled. "Nope, just admiring the view." I said, popping the "p".
The same waitress approached us. "So what would you like to drink?" She asked, grabbing a pen and notepad out.
"I'll have some cranberry juice please." I said, knowing not to drink any alcohol.
"I'll have a coca-cola please." Said Elliot.
"Alright I'll be right out with them." She said, handing us menus.
We nodded, and started glancing over the menu.
"What are you thinking of having, Liv?" Elliot asks me.
I shrug. "I'm thinking of getting the shrimp and chicken fettuccine Alfredo." I say.
"How about you?" I ask in return.
"I'll have the lasagna." He says, licking his dry lips.
Right on time, the waitress comes and takes our order. "Thank you. Oh il take these as well." Says the waitress, taking our menus.
"Your order should be ready soon." She says as she walks away.
"So how is Kathleen doing?" I ask.
"She's doing great. She's getting her degree in journalism." Elliot says proudly.
I smile. "That's great!" I say happily.
"Yeah, I'm real proud of her." He says smiling to himself.
"And how is Kathy and the rest of the kids?" I ask hesitantly, not knowing whether it will upset him or not.
"Umm, I really don't know. Every time I call, uh, Kathy she says the kids are busy or their taking a bath or any excuse in the world. I was thinking of going down there soon. In the next two weeks or so. I was curious to whether or not you'd want to go?" He asks.
"I'm sorry, El. You know I would if I could but I can't. I have to work. After all that time I missed I have to work extra now." I say, looking down.
"It's fine." He says, shrugging.
Then our food comes along.
"The shrimp and chicken fettuccine Alfredo. And the lasagna." She says handing out played to us.
"Thank you." I say smiling, while Elliot just nods.
We eat, without talking at all. I couldn't help having to work. I didn't have a choice.
We finish eating and Elliot drops me off at the precinct.
"Goodbye my love." I say to Elliot, giving him a quick peck on the lips.
"Bye." He says.
