The naked winter trees line the street and your breath rises in visible puffs to join the clouded night sky. There's a freezing chill in the air that brings crispness to the leaves that crunch underfoot. Rosy cheeked, you stomp to keep warm, pulling the woolen hat over your reddened ears and tightening scarf over your blue-tinged lips. Your teeth are chattering as the cold seeps into your gloves, numbing your fingers until they cease to bend properly, stiffen and frigid.
The winter cold howls through the scarce streets that led up to the train station and you could feel the air being heavy as your lungs were filled with as sharp frost each time you breathe in. Puffing out your cheeks, you tugged down your scarf and blow hot air into your shivering hands in a failed attempt to warm them. Your eyebrows pull down together, you shoot the star catcher besides you a glare. "If you knew practice was going to be running late, you should've said something."
Dismissing your words with a wave of a hand, he let out a small 'tsk' and stepped closer to you, shielding you from the harsh winter winds without you noticing. "You're so over-dramatic. I wasn't that late."
"Says the person who wasn't waiting in the cold for a half an hour."
The guilt festers inside of him. Abe knew he was in the wrong when he suddenly halted his steps before turning to face you with his hand dangling outwards. "Give me your hand."
"Huh? W-What?"
"Your hand," He repeats. "Give it to me."
You extend your shaking hand, he reaches forward to lace his fingers through yours and in that moment, a staggering shock of energy shoots into your veins and straight to your heart. Looking at him, yours lips part in surprise before he smiled shyly and gave your hand a squeeze, tugging you forward to resume your walk.
"There," He says while averting your gaze as a blush creeps to his cheeks. "Now that you're warm, you'll have one less thing to bitch about."
"Mmm, doubt it."
