Chapter 1

20 3 2

"Wake up! Come on Ro! Wake up! Hello?!" I wake with a start. Eryana is sitting on the edge of my bed. "There are people at the door." What? I'm immediately scared. Our parents died years ago. We didn't tell anyone because we wanted to stay with each other. "Do you know what they want?" I ask. "Nope." She replies. "I'm scared."

"Don't be afraid Ery." I reassure her. "It's all gonna be okay."

That's when I heard the loud banging at the door. I instinctively grab Eryana's arm.

"Stay behind me got it?" I commanded. She nodded. We made our way downstairs quietly. They couldn't take us away. They'd lock us up or hang us in the town square! It's against the law to live without a guardian, and while Ery has me, I'm only 16. Which isn't old enough to be a "legal adult".

When we get downstairs I take a deep breath and open the door. I gasped. It was the Sketchelville Policemen. "Where are your parents?" One of them demanded. "Good morning to you too Officer..." I took a peak at his name tag. "Lager." He sighed and rolled his eyes. "I asked you where your parents are!" He demanded once again. "Umm... They're upstairs! I'll just go get them! Ery, you stay here and keep them company."

I shoot her a look that says everything. How I love her, how I never wanted this to happen, how at least we would die together. She returned the look, and smiled sadly.

Suddenly, I had an idea. "You know what Ery, we should probably go together, just so it's safer." She follows my lead. "You are absolutely right Ro!" So we went upstairs together.

Once out of sight, I said, "Gather your stuff. We're getting out of here." So she went to get her things while I collected mine.

When she had all her stuff gathered, she came back to the room and said, "Wait. How're we getting out without them seeing?" I motion towards the window. "Ohhhh." She smiles and laughs at herself.

It's a 2 story jump, so we'll have to jump on our bags. I throw mine down, followed by Eryiana's. "Okay. Now the hard part." I say mostly to myself. I climb on the window sill, and take a deep breath. For Eryana. I thought. And then I jumped.

When I jumped I heard something crack. After I landed I felt the pain. It was in my ankle. I must've broken it. I motion for Eryana to jump. She does, but she startles a horse nearby, and it stands up on its rear legs. "Sh*t!" I whisper. "Hey! Who's back there?" I hear an officer shout.

He comes around the side of the building and sees us. "Sh*t!" I mutter again. "They're over here!" He yells. I looked at her. She understood. That's when we ran.

It was hard and painful running with a broken ankle, but I was making it! The only problem was, that they were on horses. Eryana looks at me. She's desperate. I hate when she looks at me like that. She then turns to the front and her face lights up. And when I look where she is looking, I see a house.

We started sprinting and everything was a blur. We are almost there. We can make it! And that's when I trip on a root and everything goes black...

So what did y'all think? Should I do a chapter 2? Please like and comment, and have a good day!
