< Jev X Mitch >+++
I've never been the one wishing for cliche romance.Simply to put it, it's unrealistic.
This is the real world.
Guys don't fall for nerdy quiet girls like in the books. Guys don't possessively claim their undying love for their partner. Guys just aren't, what's the word, romantic.
No.
This is the real world.
Guys here are either short, shorter than you, or taller than you will ever be. Guys here are made of skin and bones, not the rock hard body depicted in books. Guys here type out their love for you on a bloody mobile device -whether it's 'Hey, I like you. Wanna date?' Or 'Let's break up.' Because they just aren't man enough to say it face to face those wimpy assholes.
Guys here, are relentlessly dull.
My eyes crossed the cafeteria and land on a solitary person sitting alone at the table across where he was.
Well, maybe not all guys are awful.
He sensed my gaze and looks up from his phone, smiling and waving a greeting.
I resists the urge to roll my eyes.
Not all awful, maybe. But painfully slow.
His smile dropped when a figure walked towards his table, taking the seat opposite him.
I look away, frowning slightly.
"Ooh, what's that I see? A hint of jealously?"
Sitting in front of me, Alyssa sang out, her lips curled up to a smirk.
"What? I'm not jealous!"
Her smirk only widens.
"Of course you aren't. That's totally why you're frowning like you saw eyeball paste smeared on a toast."
I gawk, pretend disbelief at her words but it does little to change her mind.
"Hey! Toast it nice, ok?"
I try and change the subject.
"Yeah but you know you'd prefer milo any other day." She grins -almost catlike (by this time I'm already certain she's a human cat hybrid)- and shoved a biscuit into my mouth before I could protest.
I sulk a bit and chew on the biscuit. But, I know better than to get into a match with her.
'Besides,' a voice that sounded suspiciously like mine spoke up, 'You know she's right.'
Taking a bite of her food, Alyssa swallowed before pointing out.
"So it's around 1 day now?"
I raise an eyebrow in question and she nodded towards my timer. I forced a facade of calm.
"Yep. I can't wait."
