I was heartbroken when you had to leave
But I shall always be happy when you return
I have helped you get well
And you have returned the favor
I ran many dangerous missions
Delivered messages
And ammunition
You have also fed me whenever I was around
I have slept with you
And even watched over you
I stood by your side
Not caring which side you were on
I posed for pictures
Knowing how silly they could be
I have comforted you
And I have mourned you
But I know we both shall not forget those who have sacrificed themselves to serve our country
