Prologue

I sat on the dock of the bay, watching the waves crash and swirl together as the different shades of blue merged together into one. The setting sun added shadows but yet brightened the dark sea. The breeze brought forth the scent of sea salt and it slowly calmed my loneliness.

It set in right after he left. I continued to stalk the seas horizon in hopes to catch his ship, returning to home. Returning to me. It had been three years since I had landed my gaze onto his deep cerulean eyes. The beauty competed with the oceans depth and swirl of color.

I was young when I met Kaden, only 21 and new to the little town of Merona. I was looking to get lost in the landscape, to find my muse for my next painting(s). I had never liked to illustrate people, I could never tell their story or show the emotion that ran through their eyes. I seemed to stick with nature for the most part. Sketching and painting trees, birds, grass, anything that would stay still and look beautiful in the different lighting of the sunlight (or moon light in some cases.)

As I passed by the man on my way to the library and catching his gaze for a split second, I knew what -actually who- I would paint. Those eyes enchanted me and had caused me to lose focus on my walk to the library dozens of times.

Once reaching the library, I slowly wandered around the large building hoping to find the librarian. As I turned down a row of 'S' books I had found what I was searching for.

"Excuse me? Are you the librarian?" I asked sweetly. I made sure to always come off as an innocent young girl.

"Oh um...me? Yes I'm Priscilla the 'lovely librarian'. Do you need any help?" She was maybe two years older than me but seemed quite easy to get along with so I plastered on a dimpled smile and allowed my brown eyes light up.

"Hello, I'm Delaney. I'm sorta' looking for a book on...colors?"

"Colors? Like a coloring book?" Priscilla let out a small giggle, "I'm only teasing. C'mon let me see what i can find for you."

Priscilla took me up a flight of stairs that led to a more quieter area. It smelled of coffee beans and perhaps the slight scent of sweet peas.

"This is the area that was designed for older, more mature visitors. The more adult subjects are stored here, and many textbooks." She stopped and looked around lovingly, "You should be able to find some art books in the shelves to your right. We must have dozens of textbooks. One is bound to have colors in it."

"Thank you Priscilla. I appreciate it." I smiled very friendly to her and started to walk away.

"Any time Laney. I will be downstairs if ya' need anything. See ya'." With that she walked back down as her long straight black hair swayed with each step.

I remember staying there there for hours. I had found numerous art books, just like Priscilla promised, and had studied the color wheel. I found a chart of shades of blues an I let out a sigh. Finally! I skimmed the page until I landed on the same shade as his sparkling irises. I read the name quickly, "Cerulean Blue." Hm, thats quite pretty. HE is quite pretty. I stopped my mind from thinking those things. I don't even know his name and I am already complimenting him? I'm pretty sure thats bad. He could be a creep for all I know.

I walked down the flight of stairs and went over to Priscilla's desk.

"Excuse me. Miss. Lovely Librarian, i would like to check these books out." Priscilla frowned at the nick name and quickly stated, "Don't call me that Laney." I laughed at her sudden annoyance with me and gave her a quick smile to ease some of the tension.

"Why not? You gave me a ridiculous nickname. I'm just returning the favor."

"Whatever kid," she grabbed my books and put a card with the due date in the front of the book, "Due in two weeks. See ya' later Laney." I smiled once more and headed back to my small apartment. I pulled out my phone and quickly pulled up my GPS. I really need to learn my way around the this town.

I continued walking until I bumped into a wall. Pain suddenly shot up to my head and I clutched at my forehead. "Ow!" I thought to myself.

"Excuse me. Miss? Are you okay?" A deep voice asked coming from behind me. I turned around quickly to try and shoo the man off when I was met with cerulean eyes.
