I was never really open to the paranormal. I mean I never thought the supernatural didn't exist or anything but I never went looking for it. Even as a curious teen when my friends saw a Ouija board in the windows of a book store, I told them that I wasn't interested in finding out whether it worked or not and that they could go ahead and purchase it when I wasn't with them. However, the paranormal came looking for me. It happened one night. Something strange yet honestly magical. I was lying in bed, asleep, and for once I wasn't having strange or obscure dreams. I was awakened by a very light touch at the end of my toes, I immediately opened my eyes and looked around the dark room. I reached over my night table to switch on my lamp and looked warily around the room again, now with the help of the light. But there was no one there. No one or nothing at all. So I switched the light off again and turned over to try to go back to sleep.
Just as I was about to close my eyes I heard a faint whisper....my name...like sort of an echo in the room. "Adriana". It startled me so much, my breath caught in my throat and I knew there couldn't be anyone in the room with me. I lived alone for crying out loud! But just for my peace of mind I got out of bed and quietly did a check of the apartment, and of course there was no one there but me. So, I went back to my bedroom and got back into bed. Must just be nerves, I thought. After about an hour, I started closing my eyes again because I really couldn't afford not to get enough sleep. I had an early morning and it promised to be a very stressful day so I had to get my sleep. Fortunately there were no further interruptions and I slowly drifted off to sleep.

The following evening I got home late and I was so exhausted. I ate my Chinese dinner that I'd bought earlier that evening and went straight to bed. At exactly 3 a.m., I felt like a finger was tracing a path down my thigh, at the side all the way up to my hip and then I heard that little whisper again. "Adriana". I literally flew out of bed, turned on the lamp completely bat shit scared out of my mind! "What the fuck?! Seriously who's there?! I can't believe I'm talking to an empty room". My eyes scanned the room for anything out of the ordinary. And the room most certainly was not empty, definitely not tonight. Out of the corner of my eye, I observed a sort of dark mist floating in through the bedroom doorway. I could only stand in absolute shock and terror. But what followed the mist made every single hair on my body stand directly at a right angle to my skin. A figure or outline followed the mist slowly into the room. It looked like a man wearing a coat. I couldn't see a face. "Adriana", the figure whispered as it stood just 2 or 3 feet away from me. It looked directly at me. "M-my name is Adrianne. What do you want?" My voice sounded like it came from somewhere else. "Adriana, why do you fear me?" This time the voice was a little louder than a whisper. Tears spilled over onto my cheeks. I was so terrified. He knows my name, how did he know my name even if he had added an extra vowel. I whimpered a little unwillingly and before I could take another breath between whimpers, he closed the distance between us at lightning speed. Like a blur. He was right in front of me. "Do not fear me". "Who are....... you?" I managed to whisper. "Don't you remember? You summoned me". "I...summoned....you..." This was just too much for me. "Yes. Your energy called me to you. How sad and alone you are. I simply responded". I remembered being depressed about my job and my ailing personal life, and my deeply wounded heart, but I never could have consciously summoned this...this..thing. "I... I..didn't". "Oh I assure you, you did. I am your...dark angel...your demon". I crumbled to the floor, simply paralyzed with fear and utter disbelief. "Do not be afraid. I..will depart from you to think on these things, but I will come again tomorrow. I trust I will find you less frightened...and more receptive". And then he was gone. I was alone again in my apartment. Oh my God, I thought, I must have summoned him because for a brief second, I....wanted him to stay. Just didn't want to be alone...again.
