Bella's POV

Renesmee was growing so fast, aging like her life was in fast-forward, but at least eternity with her was promised. It's incredible to watch growth, you never notice people change, but every few days she looks different, developing Edward's shape of face, her jaw line becoming more defined, and her eyes, taking on my form, like a reflection, looking at her is like looking at a mirror - you see yourself.

Her life is mine, her eyes are mine, she is me. The bond fuelled by time and eternity.
Her pale hand rose to my cheekbone and I saw an image of thirst and hunger.
"I think you need to hunt" my attention turned to Edward, "Renesmee can hunt with us?" I asked.

"Okay, but I'd feel better if she sat with Jacob, she can't run at our speed" he asked back.
The senses I felt were amazing, he was in the other room and I only had to murmur the words and he would hear. Everything I saw, I saw with full attention to detail without even trying. If I looked at a tree I saw all of the chips defined like looking through a microscope at a piece of bark. Everything was so real now.

I hadn't had time to appreciate the new advanced senses, not with the Volturi, all I could do was live in fear of my family getting hurt, but now, I can relax, I can see the world through my new ruby eyes.

Renesmee placed her arms carefully around Jacob's warm neck and wrapped her legs around his rib cage securely. She wasn't as strong or fast as us, she slept and could eat human food, blood ran in her veins and her heart pumped at the speed of a woodpecker chipping at a tree. Yet she was gifted and could consume blood. She was more mortal than immortal.

We took of at an inhuman pace and raced through the vegetation.
The wind whistled by my ears as I sprinted forward and a smell caught my attention. We all skidded to a halt and got into a defensive hunting crouch, like a predator targeting its prey.

A large herd of elk were in a circle grazing the forest calmly, oblivious to the threat that would oppose them so fast, they wouldn't even have time to think their last thoughts. A nod was sent through our Coven and we threw ourselves at an elk.
Only 2 managed to escape and they were the ones nobody had caught as they were occupied with the other elk.

When our burning throats had been extinguished we were back at our house and Esme started preparing food for Jacob, Seth and Leah. Jacob was on good grounds with Sam and was still with just Seth and Leah as it was easier but were no longer threatened by Sam's hatred for Renesmee.

~~~~~~~~~~
As dusk approached Renesmee clung closer to me, her eyes threatening to shut, like a weight was on each lid.
"Are you tired Renesmee?" I asked softly, her hand pressed lightly to the side of my face and I saw her laying in bed.
"Ok, let's take you to bed" and I scooped her into my arms with ease. I swiftly ran to the cottage and tucked her into her bed in her beautiful white room.
I looked around at the walls of the room knowing we'd have to renovate eventually, and then returned my focus to my daughter sleepily smiling at me.
"Would you like a story or for me to stay until you sleep?" I asked brushing my hand through her chestnut waves of hair:
"Story please" she politely whispered in her sweet soprano voice that I rarely got to hear.
"Would you like me to tell you one of my stories?" I clarified, she nodded to me and waited for the story.
"Ok, this story is of when I found out that your Jacob," I tried to hold back a shudder, "was a wolf, he couldn't see me, Sam's rule, he couldn't interact with any human that didn't know that being a wolf existed. I ended up going to his house and barging past Billy to where Jacob was sleeping.
Then through the window I saw the pack coming, minus Sam. I was furious because they had done this to Jacob, so I went right up to them where I slapped Paul hard across the cheek and he was so angry he phased right in front of me, but Jacob sensed I was in danger and phased and fought Paul for me."
She exhaustedly nodded, mesmerised by the story,
"He fought his own brother to protect me, and he would do the same for you.
Now, sleep, I'll stay with you until you fall asleep" I promised solemnly.
Renesmee huddled into her blankets comfortably and I held her in my arms. I pulled one hand up to my face so I could watch her dreaming.
When she eventually fell asleep I stayed, engaged entirely in her mind. She dreamt of playing Edward's piano with him, playing the song he once had whilst she sat next to him, the moment before Alice dropped the vase in pure horror of her own vision, when we were all sentenced to death because Irina didn't understand.
Irina.
A wave of guilt overcame me and I couldn't stand to watch her dream any longer, Irina, the Volturi killed her. I lifted my shield from my mind and thought Edward, send Jacob to the cottage to look after Renesmee, I have just put her to bed.
I sat on the sofa and dry sobbed quietly for our lost cousin, I hadn't got on well with her at first but that made no difference to the fact that she was family and that I was missing her terribly.
My emotional silence was interrupted by the sound of Jacob's footsteps pacing towards the front door.
I opened the door and thanked him for looking after her, but we both knew he'd much rather be with her at late night than without her.
I left the cottage and returned to the house where Edward was with Jasper.
All of a sudden my sadness was replaced with a warm comfort that dominated every other emotion and thought.
I accusingly stared at Jasper but couldn't find it in me to be annoyed, he wouldn't let me.
