I looked at the paper and shuddered. All those people! It was scary just thinking about it. I passed the paper to my neighbor Rosalie. She was sitting on her couch reading her Uni book, laptop at her side. "Look Rosalie! This blackmailer is really clever, and mean" I said.

"Yep. If you see him stay away." She joked, "Thanks for helping today."

Hi. I'm Sammy. I'm hanging out at my neighbour Rosalie's house, helping her with her chores because she is so busy studying.

"That's okay. See you tomorrow." I said.

I left Rosalie's house and started the walk up my driveway, automatically checking the mailbox on my way. There was a white envelope with no address. Curious, I opened it. Inside was a white card with cut-out letters from magazines stuck on it. "Rosalie", it read

"Put $100 on the park bench at midnight tonight.

If you don't I will find you, wherever you are.

Don't try to hide, I will find you."

I gasped shocked. I shoved the card back in the envelope and sprinted back to Rosalie's house. I burst through the door and threw the envelope at Rosalie. "What do you know about this?" I cried.

Rosalie pulled out the white card out of the envelope again and read it. She paled, shook her head and whispered, "No! Why me?"

"Rosalie," I said, tugging on her sleeve, "Who sent this to you?"

Her bright, blue eyes frightened, she shook her head again. "I don't know." she paused, "What should I do Sammy?"

I thought long and hard, while sitting Rosalie down on the couch with a cup of tea. Then I had an idea. I explained my plan to Rosalie who reluctantly agreed. Not realising I was about to risk my life.

As I crept into bed that night my tummy was jittering with nerves. Who is was the blackmailer? Were they dangerous? What is something went wrong? I ran over the plan in my head until I fell asleep.

I jumped when the alarm from under my pillow rang. It was 11:00. Time to go! The butterflies in my tummy flew around rapidly. I quietly got dressed, grabbed my camera and phone and jumped out the window, closing it behind me. I raced over to Rosalie's house and silently slipped in the back door. "Rosalie?" I called softly.

Suddenly she appeared in the hallway with a bag in her hand. "Let's go!" she announced.

We nervously drove to the park. It was 11:30. I got out of the car and under Rosalie's watchful eye, casually crouched behind a bush facing the park bench. I got my camera and mobile ready.

15 mins later, I saw Rosalie place the bag of fake money on the bench and walk back to her car. As planned, she drove around and parked at the back of the car park to wait. At 12:00 on the dot, as the church bells started chiming, a black car crept up slowly. I quietly got out my mobile and recorded the number plate. I took a picture of the car itself and then ducked down low. A man got out of the car and approached the bench. Taking the chance, I took a picture of him. He was big, muscular and had a shaved head. My heart pounding I watched him pick up the bag and look inside. Screaming with rage he walked directly toward me. Horrified, I stiffened and cowered behind my bush. Still angry, he walked toward the car park where Rosalie was waiting. There was only one thing left to do.

As he walked past, I stuck out my foot and he hit the concrete, out cold. Shocked at what I had done I ran over to Rosalie, who took my mobile, dialed 000 and explained what had happened. Soon enough we heard a siren. I sighed in relief.

About 5 minutes later a police car arrived. A policewoman went over to us and asked us some questions. After she had finished writing, she shook her head, horrified. "Do you girls know who this is?! This is the most wanted criminal in town!" Then her voice softened as she said, "You two are heroes. Thank you."

I smiled.
