"Do you, Maya Hart, take Lucas Friar to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do"

"And do you, Lucas Friar, take Maya Hart to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

"I do"

"You may now kiss the bride"

I stand by Maya's side, watching her smile bigger than I've ever seen before. I see a gleam in Lucas' eyes, a gleam that can only be described as love. I see them starting to lean in towards each other. Inches apart from a kiss. Everyone watching and waiting in anticipation for them to seal their new life as husband and wife with a kiss. Everyone but me. I stand there ready to collapse onto the ground. Breathless. Lifeless, as I watch the man I love marry my best friend. This is the end. I feel everything around me start to crumble

I see them. Lips mere centimeters apart. Ready to kiss

"RILEY!" My mothers yell wakes me from my dream, or should I say nightmare. No it's a dream! My best friend was marrying the man she loved. It was definitely a dream! "It's almost time for school! Are you up yet?" I hear her walking towards my door, I know she'll come in to make sure I'm awake, but I can't let her see me. There are tears in my eyes from my dream. Tears of joy of course....

"I'M AWAKE MOM!" I yell before she has a chance to come in. I hear her turn back around to the kitchen. Crisis averted.

Once I'm dressed I walk into my kitchen, knowing Maya is already here. I have to be normal. My cheery, smiley, usual self. It's been a year since I've actually been myself. With practice though, I've learned to fool everyone. Even the one person who knows me better than I know myself. Maybe she's been blinded by love. I know I was, that's why I never noticed how she felt about Lucas. But not anymore. Now it's Maya and Lucas. The perfect couple. Riley and Lucas are just best friends. Riley and Maya will always be sisters.

That's why when I walk into the kitchen and see her digging into the scrambled eggs and toast my mom made I have to pretend I didn't just get my heart ripped out by dreaming of her marrying her boyfriend.

I just smile. Like I have everyday since Texas. Like I will do everyday, until I can finally, truly, move on from Lucas Friar.
