I sat next to Maya, who sat next to Lucas like always. Zay and Farkle sat right in front of us. When I sit next to Maya, I can keep my attention focused on Zay and Farkle, so I don't have to pay attention to what Maya and Lucas do. I don't have to look at them, and I can just pretend no one is there.

"So Farkle and I are meeting up today after school to work on our art project. We're gonna go to his house and work in his art studio. I'm so excited! I've always wanted to goof around in there! So many canvases and different colors of paint to work with!" Maya exclaimed excitedly.

"Yeah. Do you guys want to come over too? It's big enough for all of us to work in without getting in each others way." Farkle asked kindly.

"I can't. My partner already decided we're doing all the work at her place. She said something about the sunlight and color vibrancy. I don't know, I wasn't listening." Zay said while picking at this mashed potatoes."

"What do you think Riley? You wanna go?" Lucas asked. I avoided his eyes and looked down at my chicken as I spoke.

"Actually I was thinking we could do some research first. We're supposed to depict the emotion Guinevere, Arthur, and Lancelot but I don't think we can do that without first knowing what happened and how they felt." I states still not daring to look up from my food.

"That makes sense. Wanna go to the library?"

"Why the library? You can do all your research online at Farkle's house. Plus I get to see more of you which is never a bad thing." Maya said flirtily. I suddenly lost my appetite.

"I know, but I just think we could find a lot more at the library. They have access to databases and books that we can't get online." Lucas spoke sternly.

"If you say so." Maya said getting back to her lunch.

"So Riley wanna meet up after school and go?"

"Sure."

The library.

Why.

Why.

Why.

Why.

Out of all places he picks the library. OUR library. Doesn't he remember? Doesn't he understand? No, of course not. I don't mean anything to him.

I don't finish my lunch. I give it to Zay and walk away with the excuse of forgetting some books in my locker. I can't be near them right now. Not while I'm thinking about the library. Not while I'm remembering the first time we connected. When I really started to fall for Lucas. I just can't do it.

Lucas

I watched Riley walk away looking sad. I hope she's okay. I'll ask her later when we're at the library.

The library.

Our library.
