Cassi was just a small Eevee in a huge world. She lived in a field of endless pink flowers. It was beautiful, with occasional trees and a pond not far away with a creek leading to a calm lake. And if the sun hit the lake just right, the water sparkled majestically. And it was during one of these days that Cassi discovers her true destiny.
It was a quiet Sunday evening and Cassi, a little Eevee, was excited. Tonight was the night she would go to the lake to watch the water. She loved to sit by the water's edge and look out. It was beautiful.
Her mother, Lily, a pretty Sylveon, went to her. "All right, just wait for your father to send you off and then you can go." Her mother said. Cassi's father, a handsome young Jolteon named Charlie, approached them.
"Cassi, are you ready?" Charlie asked.
"Yessir!" Cassi replied.
"Okay," he said. "Let's be going."
Lily licked her mate's cheek. "I love you, be safe," she said. "And stay out of trouble young lady." She told Cassi.
Cassi and Charlie started off. Charlie watched as his daughter bounced around happily. He smiled. Cassi rubbed against her father's legs. "I love you, Daddy." She said.
"I love you, too, Baby, and guess what?"
"What?"
"You're my little girl and every little girl has a Guardian Angel."
"Really?!"
"Yes, and I'll bet he's watching you right now."
"I hope he's watching over you and Momma, too."
"I'm sure he is." Charlie looked up.
"Daddy?"
"Yes, Baby?"
"You'll never leave me and momma, right?"
"Never." Charlie said, nuzzling her.
The two continued walking next to each other. The lake wasn't far off now.
There is a rustle and Charlie and Cassi stop. "What was that?" Cassi whispers.
"I don't know... Get under me." Charlie replied. Cassi obeyed, crawling under her father and putting her ears back as she crouched beneath him.
There was a bone-chilling chuckle. Lucifer, the very Houndoom that ruled these lands so cruelly, stepped out. His group of menacing Houndours followed him. The Demon Dogs surrounded Charlie and Cassi.
"So, we meet again." Lucifer said.
"What do you want, Satan?" Charlie growled, his ears pinned.
"Well, Charlie, seems as if my favorite little worker just ran away and I need a replacement for him."
"So?"
"So, your little creature fits the profile pretty good."
"Are you implying that my daughter goes to work for you?"
"Sorta like that. But, it's more like an order than an implication." Lucifer smirked.
One of the Houndours crept closer to them and Charlie shot Pin Needle at him, the needles digging into his nose. He backed up, yelping and scrambling to get it out. "You idiot!" Lucifer snarled. The Houndour cowered.
"Stay away from us, you filthy mutt!" Charlie spat at Lucifer.
"Now, Charlie, don't make me hurt you."
"You're not getting my daughter."
"I'm giving you one..last..chance."
"Never."
Lucifer flicked his tail and the Houndours began to move in.
Charlie growled threateningly at them, but he knew it wouldn't work, and they just kept coming. Cassi trembled. "Daddy......" She whimpered.
"It's gonna be okay, Baby." Charlie soothed.
Charlie waited until the Demon Dogs got close, then he let loose a Thunderbolt and they separated, leaving room for Cassi to escape. "Now, Cassi! RUN!" He cried. Cassi took off at high speed, using her Quick Attack move to go even faster. "GO TO MOMMY CASSI!" Charlie yelled.
"After her!" Lucifer snarled.
The Houndours left, chasing after Cassi. Lucifer and Charlie circled each other, then, they leaped.
Cassi's bones shook and her muscles strained. She slowed and the Houndours caught up, one leaping on top of her. It used Bite, it's sharp teeth penetrating her skin and making her bleed. "MOMMY!" She screamed in agony, tears running down her face.
Lily heard her daughter's call and sped out of their little home, racing as fast as she could. She reached Cassi to see her daughter being held down by a Houndour, it's jaws clamped firmly around her tiny body. Blood streamed down her sides. "Mommy!" Cassi cried. Lily snarled, grabbing the Houndour by his ear and jerking him backwards. He let go of Cassi, who squeaked. Lily tackled the Houndours in a fit of rage, killing one and sending the rest running away. Lily whipped around, crouching next to her daughter. "Cassi, Cassi Baby, you're okay. I'm gonna make it feel better, okay? Just stay awake, Baby Girl."
"Where's Daddy?" Cassi whined.
"Don't worry, mommy'll find him."
"He said he wouldn't leave me, Mommy....."
"He won't Baby, he won't."
Lily wrapped her child in her ribbons, carrying her on her back as she ran. "Charlie! Charlie!" She called. She was answered by a groan nearby. "Charlie..." Lily whispered as she got close. Her mate was now bloody and battered, his wounds deep and gushing with crimson blood.
"Lily, my Guardian Angel... I love you..."
"I love you..."
"Cassi, Baby, come here...."
"Daddy?"
"Yes, Baby..."
"Daddy, what's wrong? You're okay, right?"
"Baby..... I'm not doing so well...but you take care of your mommy, ya hear?"
"Daddy? Daddy, you said you wouldn't leave me!"
"I love you Baby...." Charlie laid his head down and closed his eyes, taking one long, deep breath and exhaling, then, he stopped. He didn't move or make a sound.
A chill breeze blew through the fields as the water rippled and the world sang its goodbye to Charlie.
