So I live in Puerto Rico a very nice place to live.I live in the heart of the island Caguas.Puerto Rico is best known for its fauna and flora. But the best part is the history. It has a very colorful history starting with Christopher Colombus. The man who "discovered" my land.He "discovered" it in 1492.With 3 ships:"La Niña","La Pinta" and "La Santa Maria".But 2 of them shipwrecked. Then we go off with Juan Ponce de Leon,Puerto Rico's first governor. He lived in the capital city of San Juan in the small town of Caparra. The current governer is called Alejandro Garcia Padilla and he lives at La Fortaleza with his children and wife.
Puerto Rico is colonised territory of the U.S Goverment. It became colonised territory after the war of 1812.The americans came had a battle with the spanish and won.I guess they took it as a victory gift.
Puerto Rico was a workers country, even the kids had to work.Everybody was poor. But times changed texhnollogy evolved, and people left that behind. The houses were small and made of wood, now they're big and made of concrete.
The flag consists of 2 red stripes,2 white ones and has a blue triangle. It also has a single star wich represents that the country is alone.
It has a lot of interesting places, like El Yunque, the island city Culebras and has a few islets.
It is most recognised for its signature "mini frog" called "coquí" it was given that name because of the similar sound it makes to the word "coquí" they're many kind of "coquies" but some are in danger of extintion because of the construction and the destruction of their natural habitats.
Another signature animal of Puerto Rico is the "cotorra puertorriqueña" it stands for "puertorican parrot".It is identified by the colors green, red and yellow. This is another animal in danger of extintion because of the destruction of their natural habitats. The few that are left are in a dome in El Yunque, protected from any predator.
The national anthem is
La Borinqueña
La tierra de Borinquén
donde he nacido yo,
es un jardín florido
de mágico fulgor.
Un cielo siempre nítido
le sirve de dosel
y dan arrullos plácidos
las olas a sus pies.
Cuando a sus playas llegó Colón;
Exclamó lleno de admiración;
"Oh!, oh!, oh!, esta es la linda
tierra que busco yo".
Es Borinquén la hija,
la hija del mar y el sol,
del mar y el sol,
del mar y el sol,
del mar y el sol,
del mar y el sol.
The english version would be:
The land of Borinquen
where I have been born.
It is a florid garden
of magical brilliance.
A sky always clean
serves as a canopy.
And placid lullabies are given
by the waves at her feet.
When at her beaches Columbus arrived,
he exclaimed full of admiration:
Oh! Oh! Oh!
This is the beautiful land, that I seek.
It is Borinquen the daughter,
the daughter of the sea and the sun.
of the sea and the sun,
of the sea and the sun,
of the sea and the sun,
of the sea and the sun!
