Pete entered Asda, thinking about what would've happened if he went to Sainsbury's. He eventually came to the conclusion that this was the right decision, even if Asda was an extra two hours away (not including traffic).
Pete did all his shopping. Successful day out. He was happy.
While he was in the taxi home, he suddenly remembered it was Valentine's day. He panicked and stopped the taxi before paying the driver and running out into the local card seller shop. He picked out his card before walking over to the counter and handing the card to the cashier.
"Nice day today," the cashier said without looking up. Pete recognised his voice.
Once the man finally looked up to hand him the card, Pete's heart stopped (not literally). It was his old enemy, Alex from Target (who now works at this card shop). Alex also froze. They stared each other in the eye before Pete laid the money on the counter.
"Have a nice day..." Pete mumbled before exiting the shop. He silently wished that Alex would be forever alone.
