"Yodit, you're going back to school and that's final!" Nana yelled.

"How could you make my decisions for me Nana? I'm damn near grown!" I yelled back, defending myself.

"Watch your damn tone and language when your speaking to me!"

Enough of this.

I got up from the dinner table and ran
upstairs. Once I reached my room, I slammed the door and locked it.

I can't take this anymore! I am no longer a teenager, I'm a grown woman whose capable of making my own fucking decisions and whose accountable of my own fucking actions!
How the fuck can she not see that?!

I rushed over to my walking closet, flicked on the light, and grabbed a wooden box with two angelic African-American little girls painted on top of it.

I sat on the floor near my closet and opened up the box. After rummaging through the box a little, I pulled out a pair of my old ballet shoes.

I angrily put them on and laced them up. I stood up and with all the courage I could muster, I tried standing in relevé .. only to feel pain in my knees. Frustrated beyond words I began ripping posters of ballet and ballet quotes off the wall. I was internally SCREAMING inside as I yanked a couple my dance trophies off my dressers and sent them crashing to the ground. Alas, I crumbled to the floor sobbing.

It was clearly evident that I wasn't going to dance anymore.

When I knew Nana was sound asleep in her bed, I quietly snuck out the house fully dressed for a night of clubbing.
After making sure the front door was locked, I quietly made my way to Aliyah's car parked out front.

"Finally bitch! You took forever!" Aliyah exclaimed starting up the car.

I quickly slipped into the backseat. Since Tank was up front. "It's not so easy getting out at night when you still live under Nana's roof. Hi Tank."

He didn't respond.

"That's exactly why you needa move out! Shit, I'm glad I did. I ain't NEVA goin' back." Aliyah laughed, turned the radio on to the highest it can go, and sped off. "And don't mind him, he had a looong day."

A/N: Just so you know, I sped up a little, the first part of this chapter happens on another night when Jodie and her Nana sit down for dinner. Similar to the movie when Lorie sits down with her grandmother and informs her that she isn't going back to school then gets upset with her grandmother's answer, and then has a moment in her room with the ballet shoes like Yodit did.
