"You're a retard!!!", I could tell myself walking away from Victoria. Asking her about the weather who would ask that question when you don't even say a word at all to her. I mean we do have one class in common but the only time I talked to her in that class was to pass her a note from Bruno. The only reason I got the courage to say a word to her... Well... I was going to warn her that Bruno was going to chase her until she gave into him, and I also wanted say say... I LOVE YOU...!!!

On the first week of school, my science teacher, Ms. Laurel, had assigned me a partner for my science project. For some unknown reason no one liked that teacher. It could have been the way she speaks, or the way she walked, or maybe the way she expressed herself. I, on the contrary, don't like to be on the bad side of people, so I was neutral. I didn't like her, but I didn't hate her. Anyways, this year she chose our partner for the science fair project. When I mean chose, she was randomly selecting them. She wrote the names in little pieces of paper and started to take them out from a cup. She hadn't pulled out my name, yet.

"Christopher," Ms. Laurel read the little paper, "it seems like there is only one person left. Let's find out who it is." She reached for the folded paper and opened it. "Well if it isn't Bruno." From all the people why him. I looked around, but there was no sight of him. You know what, Ms. Laurel just got on my bad side.

Later that week he showed up. Ms. Laurel explained everything to him. The first day we met to work together; he completely ignored every word I said and kept talking, whining about how tired of his so called girlfriend he had.

"You know Chris, I really don't know you. You seem like an outcast. I never see you around anyone." Well that's because I don't like being around jerks like you. "Maybe we'll get to know each other." Maybe we won't. "But on a more serious note... What do you think I should do about about Kayla?"

I looked towards him, only to see he was leaning forward as if he was interested in the subject, and I looked him in the eyes. I knew he was being honest. "Dump her and get a new girlfriend like you always do."

He leaned back on the couch and sighed. "I am tired of all this crap. I want something stable." I didn't like the way he used the word something. "I want someone like Victoria." I felt a warm shiver running through my whole body at the mention of her name. "She's nice, tender, she's got some sexy curves, and..." a great laugh, but most importantly she has an awesome smile. It was the only time Bruno's words became my thoughts. Bruno's cellphone rang and it snapped me back into reality. I could hear Kayla at the other end yelling at him. "You know what, this isn't working out." Then he hanged up. He gasped in relief. Minutes later he got a text.

"Hey can I have some paper?" He said to me.

"Get my notebook, its in my backpack in the first bag. The one with the giant zipper."

"Got it", he said. He tore out a sheet and called someone. "Hey Carlos, what's up...?" I did as much as possible to block him out of my thoughts. He continued sitting on the couch and left the notebook on his lap. As I continued working on "our" project, I remembered I had left my personal notebook inside my backpack. I took a glance at Bruno, and to my pure luck, he was already reading the first page.

"What in the world..." I heard him say and as he did that he leaned forward. "Carlos, something came up... I... ummm... will have to call you back." Bruno hanged up and turned to me, and as soon as he did this I looked away. "Hey Chris, where did you get these words from?" he asked while pointing at the notebook.

I made a surprised face, in which I couldn't hide my embarrassment. Bruno kept flipping through the rest of it. "Uh... umm... I... uh... made it... Why...?" I stared at him blankly. My thoughts were trying to come up with an excuse.
