*Author’s Note: This is still Heartless, however I have made slight adjustments. Hopefully I have somewhat improved the format of the story so that you guys might find it intriguing. Anyways, happy reading! (:D) S.S*

"Hope flourishes in the dark. Tainting the vacant void with its warmth and light. Slithering its way to the heart and bounding flesh to Earth. It is what most see as the meaning to life. Without it, we are nothing but a hollow shell- barren of all emotions, even happiness." - S.S

Prologue: Shattered Hope

DAMIEN

The moist wood chippings crunched under his boots as he made his way towards the large deer. Ears twitching and nostrils flaring, the deer greedily gobbled at the patch of over grown grass. It teeth slightly grazing the softness of the earth. “Life was a fragment of fragile glass- easily shattered. Something to be treasured, however this was impossible for me,” thought Damien as he cocked his head to the side, listening to the healthy beats of the deer’s heart. His pupils dilated into slits and the whites of his eyes darkened, resembling black paint. He felt his bottom lip sting with pain, as his fangs extended downwards slightly piercing into the sensitive flesh.  The slight metallic taste had enhanced his hunger, causing his throat to throb violently in need and desire. Thirst had finally dominated his humanity. "It was too late.,” growled Damien, "I can’t treasure life. My whole existence is designed to shatter it,” and with one last growl Damien had pounced onto the deer, torturously erasing its existence of this world…

UNKNOWN

Her eyes rapidly filled with tears as she brought the wailing bundle close to her chest.  Embracing her newly born child with such passion and love that it radiated off her in waves and warmth. Her hair clung to her forehead, sticking together in clumps and her eyes were marked with heavy bags. Delievering the child was truly exhausting considering it was her first child, however as every first- time parent she was filled with joy, pride and happiness. She lifted a single slender finger and carassed her childs face, stroking the smooth and soft flesh. The infant soon stopped its soft cries and squealed in delight under the touch of its mother, looking so pure and innocent.

"My dear daughter, I shall call you, Abella. After how innocent you look. So sweet, my darling girl."

Her smile was glistening with pride as she looked down at her daughter. She had inherited much of her looks such as her small nose and black hair that littered her head in small clumps, however she possessed her father's eyes. They shimmered under the slight contact of light from the dimly lit room, much like honey and were very mesmerising; one look and you were pulled deep into those golden orbs. Abella was a very suitable name.

"V, please. For both of our sakes, please don't get attached."

V's smile was wiped off her face and her eyes snapped to her partner's face. His hair was a mess resembling a birds nest, his skin was pale and dull and his eyes where stained red from crying. He wore a wrinkled tee and loose blue jeans. It was obvious he was a wreck.

"I-I know, Vince. I want to keep her, but I know I can't" V looked down at her daughter as her heart twisted painfully as she was struck with the haunting truth.

She had known that her association with Vince was illegal, however the two were madly in love and weren't able to comply customs, which stated; " To prevent the appearance of another race that could be a potential harm to the supernatural realm or expose our identity to the mundane world, as a result of the inheritance of new powers from both parents, interbreeding is not permitted. The occurance of this will lead to the termination of the infant." Therefore, their daughter's birth was forbidden and would soon cause chaos amongst the supernatural realm and the mundane world. Gods would try rid of Abella's existence,  and thus they could not keep her. However, V could sense immense power being generated from her heart. It felt like a giant furnace, the flames licking at the entrance. This meant that Abella had inherited more than her looks, which will indanger her, even when concealed in the human world.
