There's always this one moment when you first wake up where your mind is completely blank and serene. Nothing around you is clear yet, and the fog in your mind slowly clears out as you retrieve your senses from the darkness.
The only problem for me was, the fog decided to stay.
I shot straight up with a gasp as I felt the floor beneath me jolt. It was only a matter of seconds before I was emptying my stomach's contents on the metal floor.
What is going on?
Where am I?I looked around at my surroundings and was terrified when I realized that I was consumed in darkness. I couldn't even see my hand in front of my face.
A small scream escaped me as the the ground began to move upwards. I tried to regain my balance and shakily rose to my feet.
"Hello!"
"Someone help!"
"Please help me!"My throat burned with each yell and I suddenly became aware that I had no idea who I was calling to. How did I get here in the first place?
Then it hit me.
The realization was so sudden that I was literally knocked off my feet.
I don't remember anything
I grunted as I hit the hard metal floor, but I ignored the pain. I began searching my brain for any single piece of information. Nothing. Tears began rolling down my face and the only thing I could hear was the fast beat of my heart and the screeching metal and I continued moving up.
Okay. I need to calm down and get out of here, and crying isn't going to help.
I Wiped my tears and stood on my feet once again. Slowly, I began inching forward with my hands out in front of me until I felt another cold surface.
I trace my fingers along the wall until I reached another new surface. This one felt wooden, and I soon concluded that it was a large crate of some sort.
Just as I went to investigate more, the floor violently shook and I fell onto my back, hitting my head. I groaned and reached my hand up to the throbbing spot. At least it wasn't bleeding as far as I could tell.
I was about to attempt standing for a third time when a tiny light caught my attention. At first I thought I was seeing things until the light began growing. Fast. I realized just how fast the elevated contraption was rising and began to panic
I'm going to hit the top!
I started to desperately scream and shielded my eyes, waiting for the impending impact.
Just as I thought it was all going to end I came to an abrupt stop. I slowly opened my eyes just as I saw two doors opening above me. However my staring didn't last long because the second they were fully open I had to squeeze my eyes shut from the harsh... sun?
The floor shook in front of me and I could just make out the figure of another person.
"What is it shank?"
I was immediately startled by a voice that seemed to come from above me. I quickly looked around me to see that this elevator was actually a metal box that also contained multiple boxes all labeled 'WICKED'.
"It's... It's a girl."
"A girl?"
"Is she hot?"
"I call dibs!"
New voices broke out in rapid discussion as the figure, (who I now recognized as a teenage boy with a clear accent) reached his hand out for me to take.
I stared at it for a few seconds while I weighed my options.
Either take your chances with this kid and those voices that I know absolutely nothing about, or stay put and hope this thing goes back down.
I grabbed the boy's hand as I realized just how much I didn't want to risk another ride in this freaky box.
I still hadn't said a word as I was lead over to a rope and immediately pulled up.
"Shuck, are all girls that light?"
As much as I wanted to make some sarcastic reply to the kid who said that, all of my thoughts vanished as I took a look around. Walls. Four big grey walls.
"Welcome to the Glade, Greenie."
And then everything went black.
