Chapter 12: My Dangerous Reunion

The morning was nothing big, I mean ignoring the fact that I was in a town of people that could use fire like me, other than that it was nothing big, I woke up, ate breakfast, and chilled out for a while before I met up with Rose, the morning dragged on and nothing happened for hours on end, I read the clock and it now read 12:30 P.M. I grabbed my fire kingdom jacket that my dad gave me before I left, it was a crimson color with the fire kingdom emblem on the back of it in silver, we were supposed to meet up at the industrial district of the town, the place I first saw when I got here, I ran their as fast as I could down there, because for one thing I didn't want to be late, and the other thing was it was pretty far from where I was staying.

I ran to the barracks and met up with Rose "Hey a mission popped, we'll have to reschedule our plans" I nodded my head, I understood, things pop up and things change "Hey" she said "maybe you can help me, you know join my team?" of course I knew what I was going to say "Yeah sure" she smiled and we made our way to the division department, it was cool "All the divisions have a special area inside the division department, here they trade information on missions, restock supplies, or just take short breaks after the job is done for the day" we continued walking until we entered, what looked like the most high tech place in the whole village.

There stood the tall man I saw when I first walked into town , wearing the same heavy armor, he looked even more scared up then the last time I saw him, probably been in a ton of battles, with black hair, that went down past his ears, and a scar across his face, the only thing more intimidating than that was the stern look on his face "Well morning Rose, and who might this be?" I stepped up and introduced myself "My name is Shawn Rune, my dad is Hank Rune" he looked pleased, I was confused about why he was smiling "Hank Rune, now that's a name I haven't heard in 20 odd years, your dad was a good man, and a even better knight" dad had never told me about him being a knight before, but come to think about it, none of this either "Now onto me, my name is commander Vellum, I deal with the big dogs, the mission intel, and make sure this place keeps moving as smooth as possible, now the question is, what brings you all the way here?" I told him about what I went through for the past month, the shadow beast, my powers, and the "Silver Flame" I was told I had, they both looked shock.

They snapped back to reality "Ok time for your mission" he pressed a button, the floor opened up and some kind of table appeared, and something hung over the table "This is our real tech, we haven't released it out to the general population yet cause we're working out some bugs in the system, and we don't know how they'll react to this new technology, we don't need chaos around here" I understood "So on with the mission, a team of Pathblazers found some kind of strange object out in the field, we haven't launched our any of our teams out into the wild for sometime, so we know it's not one of ours" he took a breath then continued on "we don't know who's it is or why it's out there to begin with, but we need to study it to see if we can learn anything from it" I understood "Ok, I'll take Shawn with me, if things get out of hand I could use the back up" I was happy that I could do something and not just stand around and be bored all day "Rose, you haven't had any new members to your team since...." there was a weird silence, we started to walk out when the commander said "Hold up their boy"

We turned around and the commander continued "Boy you can't go out in the field like that, go to the armory and pick out some armor and another weapon, that one you got is fine, one of our best,  but a little backup never hurts" we nodded and started to walk to the armory and I picked out some basic metal armor and wore under my shirt, and a second sword, it had a silver blade, black hilt, and a red jewel in the hilt, we walked out to the field to go find that mech, a few minutes later we got to the wreckage site and Rose pulled out a small device "We're at the site, area secured, send out the revival team" later some answered "Yes ma'am, we're on our way now" a few moments later, the team came, and took the object away "So after we give the debriefing, you wanna get something to eat?" I was about to answer before I heard something in the distance, like something crumbling, we turned to see that a small part of the valley was crumbling down.

Rose looked at me and said "If that's some kind of hostile wildlife then we can't allow it to get near the village" I agreed and we started running to the location, a few moments later after a good run I some kind of wolf like a creatures that cornered what I thought was my imagination, but what I saw was Alice and Brianna. Alice was throwing rocks and Brianna throwing as much available water as she could "What are an earth kingdom girl and a water tribe girl doing in the fire lands?" it took a while, but I said "That's what I would like to know as well" I jumped in their and drew my swords and started to push them back away from the girls. the creature backed up and stood ready to pounce, I lured them into a cavern in the valley, Rose ran to them with her spear in her hand and they started to discuss something,

I didn't have time to stop and listen to what they were talking about, I was halfway into the cavern, when Rose threw a signal flame, I ran up the walls, jumped past them and ran to Rose's side, on my left I saw Brianna and the next thing to happen was Rose yelling "Fire!!!" Rose and I threw some flames and Brianna let out a big jet stream of water, they collided and made some steam that filled the cavern, suddenly the cavern ceiling collapsed and we started to run out of the cavern, when we got out the cavern entrance was sealed up, Alice started to walk towards me angrily , but Rose blocked her way, we walked back to the village, neither Alice nor Brianna said a word on the way back, we gave our debriefing, and went home for the day, that night I knew that tomorrow was going to be chaos, I was not looking forward to that.
