My jaw clenched in anger. Tears began to appear in my eyes as I tightly closed my fists. Quickly, I got up and ran out of the restaurant as my cheeks began to get wet . I reached the car and threw ten dollars at the valet parkers, as I drove away completely infuriated. Arriving at the parking lot of a bar, with the intention of drinking this whole night away, I was grabbed by the arm. Turning my heels towards my attacker my hand met quick contact with his face. Slowly my eyes focused, and I saw David, holding his cheek.
"David, what do you want?" I yelled.
"Well, first of all, I apologize for abruptly grabbing you that was very rude of me. Secondly, I wanted you let you know that I had nothing to do with this whole arranged marriage thing, and that if I could I would stop it.
"Yeah whatever. Just leave me alone. I don't need this right now."
"Crimson, please understand. I was in shock too, but my father was determined to get me married, whether it was consensual or not."
"SO WHAT?! I DON'T EVEN THINK THIS IS LEGAL ANYMORE! WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND SAID THAT THEY COULD JUST MARRY SOMEONE OFF TO YOU!? IT'S TOTAL BULL!"
"I contacted a lawyer thinking the same thing, but due to my father's wealth any charges pressed against him are nothing but a small amount of his savings. A contract had already been signed, and if we don't go through with it, my father is threatening to take away EVERYTHING from you and your family. I'm really sorry."
I stood for a moment, trying to process the information. Finally, I spoke. "So, there really isn't anything we can do? There's no loophole?"
"I already checked. I'm afraid not." He said. "The only thing I can think of now is to get to now each other and hope that we are compatible."
"I can't. I have a boyfriend, whom I WANTED to marry, but apparently I've already been sold."
I took my glasses out of my pocket, and was able to clearly see David's face. He had dark hair and round blue eyes, accompanied by a strong chin, held by sharp jaws.
"Hm. At least you're not old." I scoffed. He chuckled and offered to drive me home. I declined his offer, but thanked him anyways.
I got into the car, and repositioned my glasses. While stepping on the gas pedal, I began to worry about what to do. The responsible thing would be to tell Peter the whole situation, but I still love him, and I could never imagine breaking his heart like that.
Arriving at his house, with my best effort to wash away my stained face, I rang the doorbell. I was greeted with a smile, but it slowly faded when he realized that something was wrong.
"Crimson, what happened." He said as he held my hand, while pulling me toward him.
"Something terrible happened. Peter, I...I can't even talk."
"Well first of all, let's get you cleaned up. Then we can talk."
I nodded and he smiled as he led me upstairs. I took a shower, and took off all of that nasty glitter and makeup. Peter lent me some of his clothes, which were very comfortable. His smell made me feel safe.
"So," he said. "Are you okay with telling me what happened?" Wrapping his arms around me waist.
I nodded, and we sat down on his couch.
"My parents... They... Made a deal with someone. They made, a terrible deal. Peter, I... They're making me marry a complete stranger. And there is nothing I can do about it."
