Midnight Rose
Prologue:
Some people believe in coincidences. Me, I personally believe that no-one has a choice to what their destiny is - only how you get there. Fate controls your destiny and gives you opportunities it's up to us how we grasp them and use them to our advantage.
Most people go blissfully ignorant as to how there destiny is played out, not me; my destiny was decided over 5000 years ago some people would call me a saviour; most would say I'm a killer. I like to think that I'm a little of both. Being me has its down sides, usually involving the three fates to be having a right good laugh at my expense. You see they seem to just enjoy keeping my life in complete and utter shit!
Chapter 1: The Beginning...
War!
Many people have lived and died through war. Germany Vs Britain, Iraq Vs America, Vietnam Vs America. Noticed anything yet? Well for starters there all countries going to war over some kind of conflict...
So, how do you have a war with a race that is the highlight of fiction, mythical and the supernatural, oh yeah in secret? The answer you don't! However you do try damn best to cover it up so that you don't get world panic. The war that is the basest of my story well Humanity Vs Vampire, of course.
See this is where I come in, born slayer to the ages. Cool title huh. Unfortunately I'm the last of this ancient race. Humanities last chance a survival. With being the last comes a curse...
I was eight years old, just starting my slayer training when a beam of crashed through the clouds from heaven - or whatever's up there. The streaming white light flied through the air and surrounded me, the pain was so intense I thought I was going to die. At that very moment I understood because a part of me had died; a part of my soul. My Mother, the only other living slayer died that day - by the hands and fangs of those she fought so hard to overcome.
With that thought came three voices, the voices of fate.
So soft and tranquil, the voices carried throughout the night. Captivating all the pain and grief and just floated it away as my soul left my body to join the beautiful voices. "You're our last hope Rose" Her voice echoed across the beam of light, with power and determination. As it filled me with purpose and hope. "You will live on till the day humanity is tested" the second voice bellowed, but even then, the voice seem to calm my weary eight year old nerves. The third voice began to speak. "You will be tested both mentally and physically, with being the last, here our curse." Then as the heavens opened lightning streaked across the sky in a beautiful array. All three voices spoke as one combining into a sound so full of: grace, power and truth. "Death is you, and you are death. You're eyes will be the gateway to the souls of all those you must kill. Just don't lose your own soul in the process. Heed our voices, the voices of fate and know your destiny!" And with that the light and voices began to fade. "Why me?" I screamed as another lightening bolt shredded through the sky. Alone and afraid I stood as my fate and destiny had been set.
Those words of a scared eight year old have rang through my mind for the past 446 years - forever frozen at the age of 23. Always waiting for the time when the three fates would test humanity and ultimately test me. Always carrying on my duty for those who die at the hands, and fangs of these supernatural monsters.
Looking past my own refection to the glorious landscape of the Pennines I push back the awful memories into the trunk that is constantly locked inside my mind. God why are thee memories seeping through just when I get another job to? Maybe I can just focus on the job and the memories will go away. I thought happily. Are you stupid! Of course they won't! Ignoring the rational voice inside my head I strode across the penthouse apartment towards the luxury bathroom. Hey being immortal has its perks. Looking at the wall to wall mirror I truly realise what my nights deprived of sleep were doing to my appearance.
