There were hands on my body. Punching, scratching, and hurting me in any way possible. The pain would not stop. My screams seemed to be amplified in my mind because they were all I could hear and yet it did not stop. The pain was unbearable.
Then it came to a halt and there was a light. This light allowed me to see who was hurting me, Pierson. I felt betrayed by this man. He had changed! I screamed at him with surprising courage, "I thought you loved me!" He pulled my hair forcing me to stand while holding out his fist ready to strike and I cringed waiting for the impact.
The force of the punch caused my eye to swell instantly and made me lose my balance. I felt tears roll down my hot face as I squeezed my eyes painfully shut.
I heard the front door slam open and a person shouting words that made no sense, all I could hear was a high pitch tone sounding in my ears. Opening my eyes as best I could, I saw a tall and tan woman. It was one of the people I did not recognize when I walked to the library, she reminded me of Covell and I liked that. I felt a wave of relief that she was here and almost forgot about my pain until Pierson grabbed my arm causing me to groan.
"Let go of her you worthless Tera Dweller" she yelled at Pierson.
"What the hell is a tera dweller?" He retorted, "Get out of my apartment freak." I followed the conversation with my eyes, tan lady to Pierson. Back and forth.
"I do not want to have to resort to force, I will destroy your essence in a second." She threatened.
Pierson's stance shifted, he pulled me closer to his core and pulled out a blade from his pocket. "I dare you." He hissed pushing the blade into my neck. I started to panic while I leaned my neck away from its sharp edge to no avail, I was going to die.
Looking at the woman in front of me, I begged her silently with my eyes for help. As soon as I made eye contact with her she took long and quick steps towards us both taking Pierson's head in her hands and pressed a pressure point that made him go limp in an instant.
As the blade clattered to the floor I collapsed and started coughing and sobbing at the same resulting in a drowning feeling. The woman took my arm and gently helped me up providing her own body as support.
"Breath Lena." She asked in a gentle quiet voice. I nodded as my sobs became fewer and my coughing came to a halt. I managed to thank her for helping me. She nodded and carefully walked me over to a chair so I could sit down and rest. Her movements were so gentle as if I were going to break in her hands if she did not take extreme care in helping me.
The lady looked at me as I sat in the chair and held my throat. "I am Zavera and I have been sent to help you Lena. The man that attacked you is going to be asleep for a while and so we have time to grab some of your things and leave if that is what you wish." Zavera's honest eyes convinced me that I could trust her even though I barely knew her.
I nodded slowly in response to her request and she immediately walked to my room to grab things that I needed to leave. Hastily, she grabbed a few tops and pants, my comb, toothbrush and toothpaste, as well as some hairbands. Zavera's walked quickly and silently towards me, bag of supplies in her left hand and my hand in her right.
"Thank you." I say in an attempt to express my deep gratitude for her help. She simply nodded and dragged me out the door. My whole body cried out in pain but I matched her brisk pace and followed her to the apartment type building she spoke of.
"It is not exactly like an apartment, it is more like a large house of rooms that I live in. It is like a. . . "
"Like a dorm?" I supplied for her.
