"Alex! hurry up or I'm going without you!" My father yells from the kitchen.
"Don't be so loud or you'll wake up the neighbours." I half-yelled to him as I finish buckling my belt. "I'll be right there." I grab my bag and throw it over my shoulder. I reach the kitchen and my dad throws an apple towards me, I almost dropped it trying to catch it.
"Eat this on the way." He said when he tossed the apple. "Now lets get going or your going to miss your first day at your new school. Oh, and Alex, try not to get into any fights on your first day of school, and make some friends! School funner if you have friends."
"Why do I need any friends? I'm fine by myself." I stated as I walk to the truck.
"If you don't fix that attitude of yours you won't make any friends"
"Good."
"That is not good! At least give it a shot, can you do that for me?" He says with as sullen expression.
Sighing "fine, I'll give it a shot." Those were the last words we shared during the whole ride to school.
When we got there I opened the door and said my goodbyes. Mounting my backpack on my shoulders, I started my descend upon the school doors. Pushing my way in, I start to mindlessly stroll across the halls until I could find my locker, I had my schedule mailed to me along with my locker number and password. I pass many lockers until I found my number, quickly trying to put the number in, I failed miserably 5 times before I finally got it open. I shoved some binders inside but took my bag. Once closed the first bell rang, well shit, I'm going to be late. I take out my schedule and looked for my first period, Math in room 157.
I finally found it after searching for a few minutes. Glad the classes haven't started yet, I reach out and grab the silver handle, twisting it the door made a creaking sound as I pushed the door open. I peaked into the room and looked around, light wooden tables were lined up in rows of two all facing the front. Behind the teachers desk is a blackboard with markings of an equation with a question paired beside it.
I walk up to Mr. Gibson who sat diligently in his chair "Hello sir, I'm Al-"
"Yes yes, the new student right? Sit down where ever you like, I'll work on a seating plan for you later." He shoos me off without looking up from the papers he's sorting through. What the hell? I try to be nice and this is what I get on my first day of school? Furious, I turn away without saying a word, looking for an available spot. One was at the back with a prepy female, and one beside a nerd. Fuck it, I take the seat near the nerd.
"H-hello my name is Randy, uh, w-what's yours?" Randy spoke as soon as I sat down. Randy is dressed in a platted button up shirt, warn blue jeans and an old pair of sneakers. He has light brown tussled hair and a bony body.
"Alex" I confessed, still fuming over the fact that the teacher was being a jack ass to me back there.
"Cool, nice to meet you Alex!" Randy smiles and holds his hand out. What? Do you expect me to shake your hand just because I answered you this one time? I stared at him from the corner of my eye then reverted my eyes back to the front, ignoring him.
He seemed to understand I wasn't in the mood and slowly put his hand down. "So . . . um, you're a new student right? Where'd you live before you moved here?" I don't need to tell you anything annoying brat.
"It seems you misunderstand me, I didn't come here to play buddy with someone, especially someone as annoying as you, so shut the hell up unless you want me to make you." I ended up glaring at him at the end of my little ramble. He was shocked, well, I guess he could've seen that coming. Besides that, I am a tall, well built man. I grew my straight dark brown hair to my shoulders, completely different from back then.
"Um . . . sorry!" He turns back around and the teacher starts his long-ass speech.
Through the class I could tell Randy and a bunch of other people were staring. It pissed me off how they keept looking. I swear everyone is vultures when it comes to 'new meat'. As the time ticked by painfully slowly, it finally became lunch. I headed to my locker and changed out my binders. I shut my locker and started my hunt for the cafeteria.
On my way I saw people crowed around a locker taking up half of the hallway. I was about to pass them until I saw him. Derick.
I stopped in my tracks, shock was clear on my face as I stare at him. His black tousled hair stuck out in a messy manor. His deep grey eyes scanned the people around him, measuring and planning out his next words. He had his back pressed up against the lockers, arms crossed and one leg resting against the locker behind him, giving him a relaxed atmosphere. The smile he wore was full of ignorance and self-confidence.
Why is he here?! I could feel the sweat forming on my brow. 'I have to get out of here!' I internally voiced. My body was tense with fear, it took all my will power to turn around and walk away as casually as I can. My mind was clouded with fear and anger, I found it hard for me to concentrate on the world around me.
After mindlessly walking around a bit I finally find myself at the cafeteria. Sighing I make my way to the cafeteria line. The line move along slowly but I was able to get my food before the end of lunch. I looked around for a table and found a seat by the nerd Randy, a table by some ladies, and there was also an empty chair right by Derick. I'd be a fool to sit by Derick so I'll settle with the ladies at the table near the white cafeteria wall.
I stroll over to the ladies table carrying my plater of food "hello ladies, mind if I sit here?" I say to the girls. Even though I'm a 'tough' guy, doesn't mean I'm not a gentlemen. The girls looked me over, some giggle and others blush.
"Not at all!" One of the girls said. I silently took my seat and started my meal. "Um, so are you the new guy everyones been talking about?" She asked me in a flirtatious tone.
I swallowed my mouth full before replying "I am new to this school, but I wouldn't say that everyone's talking about me." If they were then I'd be fucked if Derick remembered. I internally shuddered at the though of him recognizing me after all these years.
"Uh, what's your name?" She asks me, resting her hand on my leg. It seems like she's the only one talking, the other girls are just staring at me baffled at my presence.
I shift my gaze over to her slender figure before complying to her question "Alex"
Her face lit up as I answered her, like she didn't expect me to give her my name. "My name's Rachael!" She announces cheerfully. Her face flushed from noticing my gaze that roamed around her body. I got to admit, she was beautiful in her own way. She was short with long light brown hair, had a fairly slender body that fit her round face.
"Tonight there is going to be a block party at 7, would you like to come join us?" She asks, her hand moving lightly on my thigh.
"I'll think about it, but if your going to be there I wouldn't mind joining" I reply, trying not to focus too hard on her hand. But she's making it really difficult.
