Everyone has that one day they don't want to remember. A break up with your boyfriend or girlfriend. A fight with your best friend. Finding out someone you trusted hurt you. Someone in your family has cancer. You failed that major test. Didn't get into that school you really wanted. Didn't make that team, that you worked so hard for. I mean you guys know what I mean right?

Well mine is August 10, 2015. I wish I could forget it but I remember it like it was yesterday..

《Flashback》
Seeing those police cars pulling up to the driveway. Two men walk out holding a envelope in there hands. KNOCK KNOCK. My mother pausing the movie we are watching. Walks up to the door, places her hand on the door. Looks through the tiny hole, turns back to us.

"Mackenzie can you take your brother and sister to my room and stay there please."

"Sure mom, is everything alright?" I notice her hands are shaking and her eyes are starting to look watery.

"Mama, you okay?" Cole asks while stuffing a bunch of M&M's in his mouth.

"Yeah, baby. Mackenzie is gonna take you guys to my room for a while okay?" KNOCK KNOCK. She turns to look at through the little hole again. I grab Cole's sticky hands while carrying Kendra in my arms while she keeps sleeping.

As I'm walking towards my mom's room, I hear the door open. "Good evening ma'am, are you Ms.Howard?" I look back to see my mother nod her head yes. "Could we come in?" She moves out of their way to let them in. As they are walking in I make eye contact with one of the officers. That's when I knew.

I got in the room and closed the door. I placed Kendra down on her bed. "Sissy?" Cole ask's while tugging on my shirt. I knell down to get on his level. "Yeah Cole?" He looks around the room crunching his eyebrows. He does that when he is trying to think.

He sits down on the floor, carefully putting his M&M's down. He looks up at me "Is mommy going to be okay? I saw her crying and I don't like it when mama cry's. It makes me sad."

I sigh while siting down next to him. "Well buddy, I think mommy is going to be okay." I look down at him. He doesn't look convinced. I ruffly his hair up while taking some M&M's. " HEY! THOSE ARE MINE." He says while pouting. "So you don't want to share with me?" I place my hand on my heart while acting sad.

"No, I don't." He takes the M&M's away from me and puts them all in his mouth.

I laugh "Your gonna get sick if you keep eating those M&M's." He looks at me and looks back at his candy. "But they are super duper good." I smile. "Well o-"

The door opens. The same officer I made eye contact with walks through the door. "Mackenzie Howard?" I stand up "Yes?" He looks down at Cole and smiles then looks back up at me "I need you to come with me please."

I bend down "Hey Cole, you wanna play that cool game on my phone?" His face brightens up and he nods his head really fast while smiling at me with chocolate all over his teeth. I smile while I hand him my phone.

He know my password already. He's a smart kid for only being 5 years old. I get up while walking towards the door. Knowing Cole, he will be perfectly fine. Give him some candy and a game to play and he will be happy.

I walk through the hall way with the officer in front of me. I turn the corner and see my mom siting down with her hand covering her face. Her breathing is ragged. I sit down next to her. I see the envelope on the table still unopened. I look at the two officers who are whisper to each other. I look at there names. Officer Oscar G. Razo and officer Matthew L. Davis, Jr.

"Something happen to my father right?" They both stop whispering and look up at me. The room is silent expect for my mothers crying. "Your father was a brave man. He served our country till the every end. I'm so sorry to say your father died August 10, 2015..." I stopped listening after that. My body goes numb. I look at the officer and I see his mouth moving but I cant hear what he is saying.

I should be crying should I? I should be screaming at the top of my lungs. I should be angry at the world. I should be upset right? Why don't I feel upset? Why am I not crying? All I feel is numb.

"Whats in the envelope?" I ask while interrupting officer Davis in middle of the sentence. Officer Razo and officer Davis look at each other while officer Razo reaches for the envelope.

My mother finally looks up while removing her hands from her face. She wipes off her tears. I grab her hand and she looks at me and tries to give me a small smile. "We found some things that belong to him. That I think you should have. " Handing us the envelope. My mothers shaking hand reaches over to grab it but I stop her grabbing the envelope and putting it on the chair next to us while holding both of her hands in mine.

The officers stand up "It's our deepest sympathy for your loss, if you need anything or have any questions please don't hesitate to call and ask. " Handing us a card for the local police office. "Just ask for detective Razo and Lieutenant Davis. "

The two officers walk out towards the door, opening it and before leaving officer Davis turns around but doesnt say anything. He closes the door, walks towards his car and drives away.
