We drive for about fifteen minutes before we pull up to a fifties looking diner. When we enter, we are hit by the overwhelming smell of burgers and I feel my stomach growl.

Michael and I sit in one of the booths. We order our food and two milkshakes. After that, we sit there in silence.

"So," Michael says, a big grin plastered on that cute face of his. "You like Dean?"

I smile. "Yeah," I say. "He's not what I was expecting."

He laughs. "That's most hunters for you. On the outside, we look like these angry, bad ass killers, but deep down we are all just big teddy bears."

I laugh. "You. A big teddy bear?"

He shrugs. "I mean, you can cuddle teddy bears, and I am totally cuddle-able."

I feel my cheeks go red, but thankfully I'm saved from having to respond when the waitress brings us our food. My mouth waters at the burger placed in front of me. "So," I say, taking a bite of a french fry. "I've been spending time with you for the past week and yet, I know nothing about you."

He sighs. "What do you want to know?" He asks with a smile.

"Everything," I say.

He laughs. "Okay, well. My favorite color is green. My favorite animal is a bear. I was given a hunting knife for my fifth birthday and started learning how to hunt not long after that. I've lived just about everywhere in the U.S. My parents died when I was sixteen. And, I'm twenty-two, not nineteen."

My eyes widen. "What?" He laughs. "You're twenty-two? Why would you lie about that?!"

He laughs some more and I can't help but join in. "I need to blend in, don't I?" We continue to laugh until our sides hurt.

"What about you?" He asks as we calm down. "What's your story?"

I laugh some more. "I think you know pretty much everything."

"Hey now," he says. "I don't know your favorite color."

I sigh. "It's blue. And my favorite animal is a polar bear."

He laughs. "Well, as I said. I'm just a giant, cuddly teddy bear. So that makes me your favorite."

I blush. "Right," I say, giggling. "Totally."

He laughs some more. "You're a fun person to be around, Em. It's been awhile since I've laughed with someone like this."

I smile. "I'm glad, Michael." We stare at each other for awhile. I watch as he licks his lips and before I know what's happening, he getting up to sit next to me.

Looking me right in the eyes, he pushes a strand of hair behind my ear and then slowly moves closer. Our lips are just about to meet when a voice interrupts us.

"Hey, guys!" Dean says. We both jump and I glare at him. Perfect timing, Dad. "What's good?"

"What are you doing here?" I ask as Sam slides into the booth next to Dean.

"Got a little hungry. Bobby said you guys would be here so we thought we would join." Michael gives a nervous laugh and scoots away from me.

Dean looks over the menu as Michael and I quickly finish our food. We are finished eating just as their food arrives. "I think we will be heading out," I say.

We start to get up when Dean stops us. "What? Why? Stay and talk. I'd love to get to know you more."

"Dean," Sam says, laughing. "Just let them go. It's been a long day. Let them go back to Bobby's to sleep."

Dean rolls his eyes. "Fine. But I expect some serious bonding tomorrow, young lady."

I laugh as Michael and I get up. After we pay out tab, we walk out into the warm evening. "I'm so sorry," I say. "I guess he's already taking this whole fatherly role pretty seriously."

Michael shrugs and steps closer to me. "It's okay. Better late than never, right?"

I nod and put my hand on the door handle to my side of the car. "Yeah. I guess you're right."

Michael begins leaning in close again, but instead of kissing me like I was hoping, he pushes my hand out of the way and opens the door for me. He gives me a wink and then walks around to the other side. I feel myself blush and I take a second to calm my racing heart before climbing into the car.
