______________________Levan & Son Accounting. That is the faded name on the door I am about to walk through. The large glass door opens stiff and I'm struck with an off stale smell.
This is my third day of my office temp. I work with Pay Today temp agency, they offers you short term temporary job positions that last any where from a day to a week. This isn't my first choice of work but it pays the bills from week to week. Unfortunately the positions are usually too short to request a letter of recommendation. This makes applying and getting a full time, stable job near to impossible.
I'm currently working in a small back ally accounting office, the furniture is out dated, the paint is flaking off the walls and there's a constant off smell in the air. The pay is good, which is nice though they only pay in cash. The job is easy as the tasks are simple and repetitive. Since I live week to week on the money I earn I appreciate it when the pay is not minimum wage.
I ventured down the hall carful no to spill coffee on my crisp wrinkle free white blouse. I sit at my desk out side Mr Levan's door. Mr Levans is a man in his mid to late forties, he always wears a crinkled brown suit with large sweat stains.
The phone rings and I press the transfer button to Mr Leaven's office. The morning hurried by quickly. I finish summarising some documents before printing a copy, to place on his desk. Everything in this place is a throw back to the 70s and there isn't a computer in site. All work is done manually and on paper.
"Good morning Miss Anderson" Mr Levan said. He trudged his way to my desk. He was an off looking man. 5 foot 7 inches with crusty brown hair. His arms and legs are short in proportion to his body and is highlighted by the suit he wore as it seems to be a few sizes too large.
"I have your scheduled and you have a meeting in 15 minutes" I replied.
"Oh, who with Miss Anderson"
I hate how he says my name. It sounds so cheep and slimy.
"They didn't leave a name" I say as I check his schedule book.
"He said he was a regular and already had an appointment"
A look of distress washes over his face. He then walks over to his desk and searches through the draws.
I duck down to get some work form the filing cabinet when I hear a slamming door, I look over to his desk and realise he isn't in his office anymore. I walk to the desk and I look around the room, there is no sign of Mr Levan.
"Who are you?" A deep voice questions from the door. I look up and the man is not in the door way anymore but directly in front of me. His 6 foot something frame towers over me. He has strong broad shoulders, a sharp jaw line and dark brown hair. He wears what looks to be a designer suit and is groomed immaculately.
"I'm the temp and you are?" I couldn't help but sound annoyed when I spoke. He was rudely close to me and the stranger was questioning me.
"Where's Frank" his voice husky and deep. I'm unintentionally drawn to look him in the eyes.
"Not here" I say without breaking eye contact.
"Tell him when you see him not to miss his meeting or there will be consequences" he walks away from me and back towards the door.
I don't know why did did what I did next.
"And if I don't" I challenge. "I'm not here for long I'm just a temp"
A deep chuckle sounded from his chest.
"Oh but you will" he is now standing closer to me than before.
"But what will you do if I can't " With his body he guides be back until I hit the desk. He then places both hands on either side of me.
"I don't think I'm going to forget you..." he looks down at my name tag.
"Miss Anderson"
