The morning started like any other, I woke up laying in my bedroom, my tangled hair spread out all around me. I heard brother talking to someone outside. Guess this means I'm going to have to spend the day alone again. I brushed my long hair and tied it into two identical braids, after that I skipped to the kitchen and ate a small breakfast brother made for me himself, he said servants were a waste of money and what he could do on his own he would. This was a very simple life, always following a routine, never changing, it was safe, big brother always made sure no harm would come to me.
After returning to my room I sat on my bed and daydreamed. What would it be like to be a strong, beautiful country like Mrs.Hungary? Able to marry, able to go places and do things that small, bashful nation like myself would never be able to do. I sat up and looked in the mirror. Why can't I be strong too?
'Ping...Ping...Ping'
Rocks hit my bedroom window, making little noises against the glass. I jumped at the sudden, startling noise and then crept nervously to my window, using all of my strength to pull it open.
"Chirp, Chirp!" Gilbird sang. I let out a sigh of relief and cuddled my face against him.
"Hello Gilbird! Did you come all the way over here all by yourself?" I asked. He shook his head and chirped no.
"No way Gilbird would go anywhere without his awesome owner!" Prussia shouted. He grabbed onto the windowsill and pulled himself into my second-story bedroom. "I came to get you out of this lame place, how bout you spend an awesome day with the awesome me?' He asked, extending his hand out to me. I blushed and backed up, Vash had warned me about this man, he told me this man was a player, a blood-thirsty lusting demon.
"I-I'm sorry...B-but I'm not supposed to leave the house without big brother." I whispered, backing up farther and hitting the wall.
"Stop shaking, I'm not going to hurt you." He reassured me, closing the small space in between us. He grabbed me wrists, trying to keep me from trembling.
"Please, s-stop Mr.Gilbert. I-I'm very sorry but I-I can't..." I murmured, looking up at him fearfully.
"I can't. Not until you come with me, and see how awesome I really am. Now come on. And don't you dare call big brother." He demanded, pulling me towards the window. "I'm trying to help you, not hurt you, you want to be awesome and strong too, right?" I nodded shyly.
He can show me the world, he can make me strong.
"A-Alright I guess..." I stuttered. He scooped me up in my arms and stood at the window.
"You trust me...?" He asked, his usual smirk stretching across his face.
"N-Not really..." I mumbled, looking at the drop. He shrugged.
"Awesome men don't need the approval of squirts." I pouted and then he jumped, holding me tightly against him, I could feel his heartbeat faintly over the wind rushing by us. We stopped falling and I opened my eyes hesitantly. We were safe on the ground, not a scratch on either one of us.
"See? I told you, squirt." he teased. He set me down on my own two feet and took my hand. "Ready?" I hesitated, should I stay here and stay shy little Liechtenstein forever, or should I go with Gilbert, and become strong? It is only one day right? I'll become even more strong than Mr.Roderich Elizaveta, and then we can spend time together like that day I first met you. I smiled and held my hand over my heart, cherishing the memory.
"I-I'm ready Mr.Gilbert." I said a little unsurely. He smirked and squeezed my hand.
"You don't have to call me that, squirt, just call me Gilbert, the awesome!" He shouted to the sky. I said nothing, just stared at him like he was a lunatic. he rolled his eyes and sighed, "Or you can just call be Gil, since my full name is too awesome for your little squirt-like mind to comprehend." I frowned.
"I-I'm sorry...but could you p-please stop calling me 'Squirt'?" I begged.
"What do I call you then?" His frightening red eyes gleamed, looking straight into my innocent emerald ones.
"L-Lili, call me Lili." I stammered, my face turned as crimson as those eyes of his and he smirked wider than I had ever seen him before, revealing sharp, wolf-like teeth.
"Alright then, Lili." He said my name in such a way, it gave me shivers down my spine. He laughed and started walking forward, his hand in mine. "Its time to live a little."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We ran through the woods, the aggravated Brit chasing after us. Waving his arms and screaming like a mad man. We panted and ran faster, hand in hand, jumping over tree roots and rocks.
"Prussia! Get back here you bloody git!" Arthur shouted "No one insults my Mumzie's cooking like that!" Gilbert laughed and held tighter to my hand.
"You're mumzie's cooking tastes almost as bad as she does!" He laughed more and i giggled with him, although I didn't quite understand what he meant. Why would he eat poor Arthur's mother?
We kept running and running and finally got all the way to Mr.Austria's house, we hid in the bushes, letting silly Arthur pass us right up, yelling and screaming, his face as red as a strawberry. I felt bad for making him angry but Prussia seemed like he was having so much fun, I didn't want to ruin it for him. We laughed and laughed, hiding in the bushes together, it was nice, being with Gilbert like this, I wasn't nearly as scared anymore, although I would never be able to be truly unafraid, I didn't feel in danger. We heard strange noises coming from the window above us. After exchanging glances we turned and peeked over the windowsill. Hungary and Austria were on the bed together, holding each other and moving in synchronization.
"I love you Roderich." She whispered.
"I love you too Elizaveta." He said back sweetly.
Gilbert looked at the ground, balling his hands into fists. He looked so sad.
"Stupid Roderich! I was the one who was supposed to invade her vital regions!" He yelled. I tilted my head to the side and then looked back in at them.
"That's what invading your vital regions means?" I asked, pointing at the pair on the other side of the glass. Gilbert nodded and looked at them sadly. I looked at his hurt expression and got a stabbing pain my my chest. I grabbed his arm and hugged it tightly, closing my eyes and blushing furiously. He looked shocked and turned a little pink.
"P-Please don't be sad Gil..." I begged, looking into his eyes pleadingly. He looked back into mine and then cleared his throat.
"Awesome men like me don't get sad Lili. Emotion is something warriors like me have no use for." He turned his back to the window and started to walk away, I followed close behind him, not knowing where else to go. He led me all the way home, it was dark outside now, we stood in my room, looking at each other silently.
"Thank you for spending time with me today Gilbert...I-I had a lot of fun." I whispered, looking up at him shyly.
"No problem, and of course you're gonna have a good day when you spend it with someone as awesome as me." He smirked down at me and took my face into his hands. My face turned red and I closed my eyes tightly. Just then there was a knock at the door.
"Liechtenstein? I'm coming in!" Vash yelled. I gasped and Gilbert ran to the window.
"Wait!" I called to him. "W-Will I see you again tomorrow?" I asked hopefully. he dropped to the ground and looked up at me.
"You're lucky to be graced with my awesomeness for one day, much less two in a row." My face fell, he smirked and winked at me. "Don't look so down, that's not awesome at all." He turned and started running in the opposite direction of my house. "I'll see you again soon Squirt!" He shouted. I stuck my head out the window.
"M-My name isn't squirt..." I muttered. He just laughed and ran until he finally disappeared into the big green forest.
"Lili, who were you talking to?" Vash asked, opening the door a crack. I smiled and turned to him.
"Oh it was nothing big brother, just a friend of mine." I replied happily, sitting at the windowsill, dreaming of all the adventures yet to come.
