a Little too Late

School is full of laughing children

as far as anyone could see

but it took a lot more than eyes

to see the pain beneath

The boy smiling with is friends

dreamt of suicide last night

and the girl with pretty brown curls

scared her wrists because of a fight

It is a shame that the eyes could be so blind

to the pain and sadness hiding behind

a laughing smile, that held no emotion

and a simple excuse that have no notion

And no one stops to think

the girl crying at the sink

had just emptied her stomach

of the little food she had eaten that day

She walks home alone thoughts ringing in her mind

wondering if she had any hope

of not being left behind

The thoughts of today at school

kill the only light she held

with the words 'go kill yourself'

go raining through her skull

A note left on the counter,

"We'll be home late."

Brought a hopeful smile as she filled herself with hate

Choosing her blade delicately from the drawer

she heads upstairs and through the door

of the bathroom she would die

Writing a note to the ones she loved

explaining why

she couldn't stay strong

because it had been far too long

She picked up the knife that would end her dreadful life

and dragged it across each wrist

Thoughts of relief and lovely retreat

filled the broken mind

With each wrist slashed she lied on the floor

her eyes fluttered closed

hearing the voices no more

When her parents got home

little did they know

their angel and fallen away

her sweet voice an laughter

never to be heard by the human ear again

Not one person had suspected

that such a happy girl could have gotten lost

in such a dark place

and not one person could have guessed

the time she went on

laughing at jokes

while she could barely hold on.

A/N:

I hope you enjoyed this poem,

this is kind of the insight (I guess)

of a depressed and/or suicidal person

I really hope that if you are one of those people that think suicide and self-harming is a joke, that you know; people who suffer from depression and become suicidal HONESTLY believe that they have nothing left.

It does not matter how "good" their life is

and if you think that telling them "People have it worse than you." is practically telling them that them and their problems don't matter.

These things are not a joke, so they

shouldn't be treated like one.

Have a good day :)
