It was another typical day. I woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs that my mom was preparing in the kitchen, I don't even know why she bothers , she knows I skip breakfast literally every morning. But like always she ask me if I want breakfast I'll say no grab my car keys and head to school. On the way to school the radio people were freaking out about how some ridiculous celebrity was going to be in town and attend Lakewood High which is the most expensive private school in the state that happens to be the school I go to. They are extremely expensive, parents pay five thousand dollars a month for their child to attend, so sadly the school is filled with stuck up bitches that pull up in their Mercedes-Benz and have a credit card that holds more than the amount I'll need to attend a average university. I was invited to attend the school due to my GPA of 97.5 and I'm basically here on a scholarship. I had a interview with the principal , and he turned out to like me and practically let me attend for free. When I pull up to the parking lot I see this crowd of girls and guys throwing themselves at the black Cadillac Escalade that is pulling up to the school, the students are trying to snap pictures and are screaming his name, some were even crying. I don't even know what this guy does I know he doesn't sing, so he's probably some type of actor. It was so wild that I was not able to get through the hormonal teenagers without bumping them with my headlight so I decided to go all the way to the end of the parking lot. Luckily there was Nicole walking towards the tall building holding two cups of Starbucks and a bag that I'm guessing has donut holes. You can pretty much say she's my best friend, she really gets me, she understands me in the way no one else can she's my only friend at Lakewood I guess it's because I shut all my friends from my previous school out after the situation with Dylan.
"Good morning Elenore." She says with a odd grin in her face holding the breakfast food behind her.
"As if I didn't already see it Nicole." I yell out my window as I set the car in park and get out.
"Well I know you don't eat breakfast at home so I figured why not here, you do know breakfast is the most important meal of the day right."
She offers me the white chocolate chip mocha and the paper bag of what now seems to be pigs in a blanket.
"Of course it is." I take the bag from her and take a drink of the coffee and don't think about looking in the bag because knowing Nicole she will make me eat it all in front of her just to make sure I won't give it away.
"I see we have a new kid." She says glancing at the pack of screaming teenagers.
"Pretty sweet huh?"
"Haven't you heard?, this one is from Hollywood."
"As if this school isn't already filled with self-centered rich bastards"
Nicole stares at me for a while with a face that just slaps me.
"I'm sorry." I reply quickly
"But you do know most of the kids here are like that."
Not that she is, I'm actually glad I have her because if I didn't I would be alone. Well when I started at Lakewood I had "friends" up until they found out I'm not loaded with money. But to be honest I sometimes question why she even talks to me, she's one of the richest and prettiest girls in the school, and she has friends don't get me wrong but she considers me like her little brother and I don't know what I ever did to deserve that.
"So where do you go this lovely morning?"
"Well today I head over to pre-cal for first -"
"Oh my gosh Nori" she interrupts me " I cannot believe you are taking a senior class ,what are you a junior?"
YES.
"Nicole! I'm in the same grade as you."
"But I'm older" she argues
I can't clap back to that she actually is, I'm supposed to be a sophomore but I skipped 5th grade because my test result from fourth grade were far too perfect for the mind of a nine year old.
"I swear to god, don't turn around" Nicole whispers with disgust in her mouth, and I'm pretty sure it's not the mocha that cause it.
"What!?" I ask confused, and being the rebellious punk I am I surely twist my head to the perfect angle where I can see who she is talking about and I quickly realize why she didn't want me to turn, she wasn't hiding from anyone she was just trying to stop the mean verbal comments to come my direction. It was Robert, he's a senior he's been picking on me since freshmen year, not because of my economic status but because he's just the type of jock who hates the gays.
He catches up to us, and glances at Nicole.
"Hey babe" he says with confidence and gives her a little wink from his left Hazel eye.
"Shut up" Nicole responds to his greeting with a stank look that says "get the fuck away from us before I knee you on the balls."
"Oh you know you love it. Well anyways, hey Elenore, wanna know something interesting"
He says with that ugly freckled twisted smile he had. I was pretty shocked that he hasn't said anything rude to me yet, he never even calls me by my name, he usually says something like "cheap skittles" so having him call me Elenore is mind blowing.
"And what is that Robert?" I reply to his question, honestly I couldn't care less about what he had to say I just wanted to get rid of him.
"That we need less people like you."
THERE HE IS! There's the rude Robert Sulking that I know.
"Fuck off Rob!" Nicole yells at him.
"No I'm serious we need less people like this queer, I mean he's broke, he's stuck up because he thinks he's smarter than everyone and to top it off he's gay"
He starts laughing and chuckling, as he walks away. I don't get offended I mean I'm used to this type of stuff coming from him.
"Don't listen to him Nori he's just a DUMB ASS THAT DOESN'T HAVE HIS PRIORITIES STRAIGHT!" Nicole yells hoping he can hear her. I'm sure he did due to him turning back to our direction. "You're special and don't let some shit tell you otherwise."
Nicole's words are so soft, I literally feel like they kissed my heart. That's why I hang with her because she's a real friend, she sticks up for me. I could do it myself and she knows it but she stands by my side.
"Thanks Nicole"
"Well that's enough of that, so I'll see for lunch ok. We're having WING STOP"
She excitedly sings the restaurants name in a high note. Which tells me she's looking forward to it so she can tell me all the gossip that's been going around.
"Ok well I gotta go I don't wanna be late for class and I still need to find a way to get there faster through all those kids."
"Oh yeah the celebrity student, I forgot about him"
How could she forget, she's into celebrities, and she wants to be one herself. I on the other hand prefer the books over the looks or popularity or fame or fortune . As long as I have my music and my books I'm happy. We part our ways and put my earphone in and hit the sideways triangle to start my playlist. Arianna Grande is the first to play, she's my favorite I love her. I love how wild she is, how she's so young and has achieved so much by being herself. I sometimes wish I was her. Everything would be a lot easier. Except I wouldn't wanna be famous.
