BEGINNINGS:
The early morning hours were dark, cold, and muggy. Kati sat up to an alarm clock violently screeching in her left ear. She let out a deep sigh of relief as the nightmare came to a conclusion, brushing her dark hair from her dampened forehead and eyes and at the same time blindly reaching over to turn off the devil clock."It's okay Kati...it was just a dream. Amber is fine..." Katica muttered to herself repeatedly as her heartbeat slowed, returning to normal.
Her eyes shut again as she fell back onto the pillow with a slight muffled thud. A blunt internal groan made its way out vocally as she sat up once again, knowing that she had to get Ambrosia up and ready for school that morning, as well as getting herself ready for work at her irritating job. She slowly swung her legs over the side of her bed and slid her pale feet into a pair of dirty, ragged, yet extremely soft slippers. Kati tiredly made her way through her dark room and into the bathroom. She flipped on the light.
"Ouch," she grumbled, covering her eyes with one hand until they adjusted to the brightness of the bathroom. Kati's soft slippers slipped slightly on the hardwood floor that covered her bathroom. She caught herself on the wall behind her, stiff arming the wall. Kati winced a bit when she heard a slight crack in her elbow.
"Ah, fuck." She cursed under her breath as the crack sent a small twinge of pain up her thin arm. She didn't think much of the crack, if it got worse she would get it checked out later. She sighed and pushed off the wall, straightening herself up again. Kati waddled slowly into the shower this time more alert. She turned the water stained silvery nozzle as far right as it could go; letting it run until it heated up creating a steamy bathroom, fogging up the mirrors and windows. Just the way she liked it, overwhelmingly hot for most people.
The average mother stripped down, and finally stepped into the shower. As soon as the burning water touched her sensitive skin, she let out a small sigh of pleasure. The water felt like heaven on her skin. She stood there, as if frozen in place, letting the hot water wash over her and warming her chilled body. She stood like that, her eyes closed tightly, for many long minutes before opening her eyes slowly and grabbing the Dove lavender smelling bar soap. She twirled it around slowly in her hands until a scream arose from somewhere in the house causing her to fumble with and drop the soap into the tub. The soap slid up and down the edges of the tub until it slowly came to a stop in the middle of the tub. Immediately she pushed back the shower curtain, grabbed a towel, wrapped it around her dripping wet body and made a beeline out of the bathroom; with the water still running in the shower, for her young daughters room.
