"The fire that gives you light may just burn you."
Druryville is the city of perfection. There are no lies, no crime, no jealousy. Everyone is responisible, respectful, and caring.
Well, almost everyone. The "Enlightenment", a drug that turns the mortal human into an Illuminaire, a person of moral integrity, is administered only at age seventeen. Until then, you are condemned to the life of a terriblie, a life of subpar values.
Nikolas Ryder is a sixteen-year old troublecauser, indifferent to the rules and guidelines of goodness. He's unsure if he really wants to give up his world of fun for goodness. Being an illuminaire just seems boring!
But when Nikolas meets Maya D'Amico, his world turns upside down. Intelligent and nervous, she is perhaps the worst rebel ever. But maybe she has the cause worth fighting for.
Maybe Druryville isn't as perfect as it seems. And maybe the line between good and evil isn't as clean cut as it seems.
I hope it doesn't sound too cliche. If it does, I promise the story itself won't be. Anyways, comment, vote, and add!
