Lizzy's POV
I never really truly belonged in this world. I was some misfit. Someone who unfortunately stood out in the wrong way. My personality was fine I always thought. I acted nicely. Well most of the time. Sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me.
I thought I always had good manners. Good educate. Respectful to people if they were respectful to me.
Yet they never were. I never knew why people had to look down on me because of my appearance. Why that had to be so sorry for me.
If you wanna be sorry for me, be sorry for me living with a complete asshole of a dad.
Not because of something I was born with.My name is Elizabeth Green. Most just call me Lizzy. I'm 18 years old. I have two younger siblings. Hannah and Henry. They were twins and sorta my best friends. Sad I know. My mom died when they were born. She got very sick and passed a few months after. My dad didn't take it very well. He started drinking. At first he ignored us but then more physical means came into the mix.
I made sure he rarely took out his anger on the twins.
But tons of kids are abused so unfortunately this wasn't an uncommon thing.
But what was uncommon was my leg. I only had one.
When I was born I had a terrible birth defect. I wasn't fully developed. I came three months early. I weighed 2 pounds and I only had one leg. Many thought I wouldn't make it but I made it through.
I have a prosthetic leg. Which is just a thing of medal going down and sticking into my shoe. Not the most appealing thing in the world. But it never slowed me down.In fact I was going to try out for the girls soccer team at my new school. Which brings me to my next explanation...
________
"C'mon, c'mon, with everything falling down around me
I'd like to believe in all the possibilities"My favorite Panic! At the Disco song, "C'mon" feat. Fun, blasted through my earbuds. I hummed to it quietly as I looked out our car window, at all the brightly colorful houses. Some had these amazing hedges. They were shaped in different ways. I think I even saw a one legged ballerina! I smiled to myself running my finger tips over my medal leg.
"C'mon, c'mon, with everything falling down around me
I'd like to believe in all the possibilitiesTry not to mistake what you have with what you hate
It could leave, it could leave, come the morning
Celebrate the night
It's the fall before the climbShall we sing, shall we sing, 'til the morning"
I yelped as one of my earbuds was roughly pulled from my ear.
"Enough with the shitty music and your awful humming. It's been driving me crazy the whole ride." Snapped my father who had his hands firmly on the steering wheel.
"I think your humming is great Lizzy." Squeaked my innocent sister who was scribbling in her coloring book in the back.
"Shut up! No one was asking you!" Shouted dad
"S-sorry s-sir." She squeaked
Henry I knew was glaring hard at dad by now. He hated when he yelled at his twin.
I only sighed to myself and looked out the passenger window once more.
It was winter time so snow lightly frosted the ground. Which was always weird since we were in California.
My grandma always said it was because that Scissorhands guy is making ice sculptures in his mansion and the flakes are falling down to the town.
As much as I knew the story had to be fake I still enjoyed hearing it. When grandma Kim died I started telling the story to the twins. They gotten a bit old for it now but they use to love it as much as me.
I loved this town. It was always so colorful and just beautiful. So when my dad told us that we would be moving into my grandmas old house I was excited.
And finally there it was. The sky blue house that still had a for sale sign on the lawn stood there just as I remembered. "Sold" was across the sale sign making me smile.
"Get your ass's moving and unload." Dad muttered getting out of the car and heading inside.
I turned around in my seat to see my siblings slightly frowning
"Hey don't worry you two. We're gonna be happy here I promise. Now why don't you both go pick your rooms out while I start unloading."
They cheered and ran out of the car towards the house.
