It was her regular night on the town.
The boys with her of course.
She was at the bar called Seven Pints with Mayle, Joshua, and Cris.
It seemed normal to them, drinking and partying.
Their night on the town seemed to last forever.
She downed her seventh shot and quickly looked out the window and saw that snow had begun to fall, on the briskly cold night of November 23, 2005.
It was quite a strange occurrence, having snow, of course, but she didn't think anything of it and turned back to Mayle who handed her another glass of some fruity liquid.
She didn't have a care in the world, she was finally free from the world around, and even if it was for just a moment, she definitely would take it.But her life choices came back, as she grabbed more glasses and drank until she could forget.
She thought about her mom, as she downed her glass. They had recently had a fight that left her running out of the house with tears streaming down her face.
She thought of her brother whom people tend to pick on because of his size and wished she could pull away.
She thought of her grandmother who had recently had surgery and was bedridden for weeks to come, drink.
She thought about her father who has to deal with the fights in the family, but loves her unconditionally, as more bottles litter the floor.
She thought of her cousin who was being taken advantage of from the boy that was two years older than her, with the last bottle she said.
She thought of the books she reads to escape from her home, that have lovely butter beer, but beer is better.
She thinks of her friend that says he hates everyone, but doesn't know how she feels; then she drinks.
She doesn't drink to get drunk, she doesn't want to have to face tomorrow, to wake up and fear what's to come. A slap in the face ,or a curse word being thrown at her every which way?
She can hardly stand now, as she gets into the car. Her fingers slip, as she cannot feel her feet. The boys went home with some girls. She says she wants to die, but she can still see the light. Her heart is pounding and she says quietly to herself "If you are really there send me someone near." She starts the car and tries to drive, but she pulls over deciding not to die.
What she doesn't see is that on the side of the road is a boy who wears a red flannel. His name is Raile, he is trying to find a life that suits him. Raile sees her stop and runs to it, banging on the doors and screaming to let him in on this cold night. He looks and see her crying and drunk. He slowly taps on the car window and asks to be let in. She lets him in without hesitation, but with joy. He then sees that he cannot be driven anywhere but takes comfort in falling asleep right there, as does she in the quiet nighttime air.
She decides not to die tonight, when she has someone by her side.
She just thinks of all the other times she can end her life with a knife.
