I drove home and saw something on the side of the road. It was a little girl about 10 years old. She looked cold and scared. I pulled over and got out.
"Are you lost sweetie?" I asked as I walked up to her. "Where are your parents?"
"Can you take me home please?" She said with tears in her eyes.
"Of course sweetie Do you know where it is?" I said giving her my jacket. She snuggled into it and smiled. I helped her into the car and she told me the address. As I type in the address into my GPS, she seemed scared and curled up in the passenger seat.
"What's wrong sweetie?" I asked before leaving.
"My mother died years ago when I was only four," she said as her eyes started to get misty again. "My father just dropped me off here to die. He never loved me and was always drinking and beating me." She started crying harder and I hugged her tight.
"Who's address did you give me?"
"My aunts. She would always take care of me since my dad was too drunk to."
I started the car and pulled out. As we drove along she started to calm down.
"Are you hungry?" I asked with concern.
"Yes, my father dropped me there 4 days ago and no one came down this road." Her voice was shaky and I could tell she was about to cry again. I turned the radio on and she looked at it and slowly sat up. I look over and see a smile start to form on her face. I let her turn it up a little louder and she started singing softly then gradually getting louder. It was shake it off by Taylor Swift, but I noticed it wasn't the normal words. It was a parody of the song then it clicked.
"Are you singing the Supernatural parody?" I asked her smiling. She giggled and smiled back,
"Yep! I've seen every episode so far!" Me and her liked Supernatural so we had something in common.
"Who's you favorite character?" she asked smiling and excited.
"Well I'm a Dean kind of girl," I said laughing.
"Me too!" she exclaimed. "I love that Dean and the Darkness are linked!" We spent the rest of the car ride talking about Supernatural. When we got to her aunts house, we found it police taped off. We watched as a gurney with a body covered roll out of the house.
"Did anyone live with her?" I asked in shock.
"No, she lived alone. My father must have done this," she said with anger in her voice. We both got out and asked about what happened to her aunt.
"We believe it was a homicide. The murderer isn't certain, but she was stabbed in the chest five times and looks like she was strangled," Officer Martin said with a confused look in his face. We got back in the car and decided to go to my house.
"So sweetie what's your name?" I asked as I watched the road intently, occasionally looking over at her.
"Charlie," she said with a half smile.
"That's a pretty name, Charlie," I smiled back. "Don't worry they'll find the killer. I promise they will."
Suddenly something popped in front of me on the road. I swerve to get out of the way when I lost control and then everything went black.
