Ruby's P.O.V.
Chapter 1
I was packing all my stuff. It was almost midnight and I was awake wearing sweatpants and dancing whilst singing along to a song playing in my earphones out loud. So loud that I had no idea I'd woke my mother up.
"People are tryna to sleep Ruby, and you too should. You don't wanna be late to school tomorrow, do you?", said my mom from my room's doorway.
"I'm so sorry mom, I'll get to sleep right away and you too should sleep mom.", I said knowing that's untrue. There she was, my mom, who always put up with me no matter what mess I made, she never got mad at me and never complained about how much she had to take care of me, a grown almost eighteen year old.
"Okay honey. Good Night." With that she goes to sleep in her room. The next day was the first day of my junior year of high school and honestly saying I hadn't been excited at all. But my best friend, Tori was excited as hell, god knows why. She also had said she had a surprise for me; well I was excited for that one.
I picked up my phone and called Tori. She picked the phone up right away.
"Sup girly?" I greet her the way we usually greet each other.
"Umm...Rubes..Hold up" . She sounded a bit shaky.
"Leave me alone for once will you! Get out of my room!!"
I hear a voice shout on the other end of the phone line.
"Tori is everything fine?"
"Yeah Rubes don't worry I'm fine. Ill meet you tomorrow okay? Bye I gotta go."
She hangs up before I could say anything. For a few minutes I kept thinking who that voice was. What if her parents were fighting again? But that voice wasn't Lucas's (Tori's Dad). I just shrugged my thoughts off, brushed my teeth quickly, popped a few pills and fell asleep in a bit.
I woke up in the middle of the night, drenched in sweat, heavily breathing and shivering. There was a piercing ache in my head. I tried breathing slow, I didn't wanna have to call my mom for help because she was tired enough already. I popped a pill of painkiller and fell asleep at about 3 A.M.
