"All my life, I wish I broke mirrors instead of promises because all I see is a shattered conscience staring right back at me."
-Owl City************************************
Sometimes it is quite easy to idealize the notion that the world is black and white. The decisions we make are either right or wrong. The people around us are either good or evil. The crossroad before us forks only between the path of integrity or corruption.
But more often than not, our field of vision is limited to subtle variations of grey; The decisions we must make are not always so clear-cut; The line between friend and enemy is dissolved by doubt and uncertainty; The road we walk branches into a spider-web of morally ambiguous paths.
You see, when standing in the face of death we make choices we never thought we would have to make. How do we choose who lives and who dies? Who can we trust with our life? How far will we go to ensure our own safety?
In the midst of despair we find our true selves. But finding out who you really are can be a scary thing. Especially when you look in the mirror and see a monster staring back at you.
