Chapter Two

I was aimlessly driving, not knowing where to go as I eyed the road ahead. The music coming from my radio was the only companion to my sorrowful disposition and for a moment, I wanted to call my girlfriend as I imagined her beautiful smile that always took my worries away and how I would love to stroke her silky blond hair but thought, never mind. Having her listen to my tales of woe nor drag her into my shitty life were not the means to seek comfort. That would be selfish of me since she had other baggage to deal with her family too, and adding with my own? That would bag me the most insensitive boyfriend that graced this earth.

Sighing, I racked my brain on what the hell should I do with this crappy feeling. I needed to do something. I needed a distraction and as though someone heard my plea, my phone sung out its loud and strident beat, slicing through my muddled thoughts. I dug my front pocket for my phone and I did a once over on the screen read out.

My best friend since puberty, Brandon.

Smiling a little, I answered the phone without missing a beat. "Hey, you mofo."

"Hey beeotch!" Brandon chirped loudly on the other line, making me laugh quietly as I heard loud music and people screaming and shouting. "Where are you?"

"Driving around," I replied. "Are you at a party?" Great, I sounded like an airhead. The background ruckus itself was a dead giveaway, Cayden.

I rolled my eyes at my stupidity.

"Hell yeah!" he cheered much too loud for my liking so I had to move my phone away from my ear then back again. "It's at Cory's house, so get your ass in here."

I snorted. "He throws too much parties these days."

"Well, his parents are out of town again, so yeah," he said nonchalantly as though having tea with the Queen of England was normal.

"And oh, your girlfriend's here too," he added.

I quirked my eyebrows. "Melanie's there?"

Strange. She would have told me about a party or something since she was part of the popular crowd like I was. Oh well.

"Uhuh, so come on! Let's parrrrrrtttteeeehhh!"

Maybe going to a party wasn't so bad since my girlfriend was there, and so was my best friend. "Alright, I'll be there."

Without waiting for a confirmation, I hanged up, made a swift u-turn and made my way to Cory's house.

It only took me ten minutes to get to Cory's house since it was not far from where I was driving. The place was cluttered with cars and the courtyard was swamped with wasted teenagers and wait, was that Candice, the school nerd and Vance, the school's bad ass making out on the bushes like there was no tomorrow? Wow, that was so... bizarre; but hey, intoxication does that to you.

Parking my car on an open space near the garage, I got out and strode to the front door, dodging wasted bodies and ones who tried to threw themselves at me like I'm some god. Then again, alcohol does impair your sense of judgement and vision.

It was not hard to find the host of the party since his blond wavy hair was like a shining beacon and well, with a red head shoving her tongue down his throat like some stupid ass porn movie. Just the way the perv liked it.
