Chapter 1 At sea

My journal, day three at sea, I wrote in my journal,
and we have been at sea for 3 days now, and no sign of life for miles. My crew says we will make is to Scaleswind in a few hours. It feels like years from the attack on Blue Star, my village. My father's death felt like ages ago. But the images are still fresh in my mind. My enemies said to my father that they will go to the next power-house, village called O'kasis. I brushed the light blue hair out of my face. The image of my father being slaughtered in front of me, still in my mind, but I push it aside. I put more ink on the quill and began writing again. My father was a good man. I wish I could have saved him, I have the power. But then Danny pulled me along. I wish I could have stayed and fought but I was a coward. I ran. Just like my father said to. But I guess I must learn to comply to people's wishes. I heard a faint knocking at my door, "Dinner, my love!" Called my lover, Danny.
I smiled, "I'll be there in a minute." I replied. I finished the writing and looked at my other wrights, father is making me marry a man.......its Danny from Pikaro......I guess he is ok.......He proposed?! I haven't even known him for a month! I am only 19! ......I think I love Danny.......dad said that someone is going to come to get us.....I see ships on the shore line, father tells me to hide...I close the book before the memories come flooding back into my mind.
I walk out of the room and was greeted by the sunset on the ocean. I smile to myself and walk down to the food deck. I see a few crew members and Danny, "hey there, love!" He greets me and kisses my forehead. I give him a little push to stop him. I walk and sit down at the head of the table. A man gives me a plate of salted beef, apples and some Carmel. I smiled, "thanks." I took a bite, it wasn't as good as the food back in Blue Star, but it is just to eat. A few of the people look like they don't know what to do. "Eat, please. I don't want you to starve because of me." I say. They smile and sit down. I smile as well. I watch as Danny sits next to me and he takes me free hand. I can't believe that it's been a year since we got married. I remembered the silky wedding gown I wore and my hair in a braid. And my father walking me down the isle. And I was only 19! Now I'm 20. My birthday is in a few days. Hopefully Lord Nicole will allow us to stay at Scaleswind. It's only us. Unless a few people escaped....no. Don't think about it. After I finished eating, I headed back to my cabin. The boat rocked side to side. A knock came from my door, "Madam, we are experiencing some bad weather. I would suggest you stay in here until further notice. A maid will bring food and water just in case M'lady."
"Oh, right, yes. Thank you, sir." And he left.
I sit on my bed, listing to the waves crash against the boat. I started to hum the song my father sang to me, "I heard that there's a secret chord. That David played and it please the lord...." The tune went. I got my nightgown on and went to bed. The sound of the ocean still fresh in my mind.
